CITY COUNCIL REORGANIZATION MEETING
TUESDAY, DECEMBER 6, 1988

The City Council met for reorganization at 6:30 P.M. with

The Mayor led the Pledge of Allegiance to our Flag, and the
Reverend Michael O'Sullivan of St. Patrick's Catholic Church
delivered the invocation.
Moved by Johnson/Porter (5-0-0, Johnson, Porter, Moots,
Millis and Mankins voting aye) to approve Resolution No. 2272
Accepting the San Luis Obispo County Clerk's Certificate -Results
of Canvass of All Votes Cast at the General Election November 8,
1988, City of Arroyo Grande.
Mayor Mankins thanked the City Staff for its cooperation and
work with him, and said it had been a privilege and pleasure to
serve the City.

The City Clerk administered the Oath of Office to Mayor Mark
M. Millis, and City Council Members A. K. "Pete" Dougall and B'Ann
Smith.
Mayor Millis administered the Oath of Office to City Clerk
Nancy Davis.
Incoming officers assumed their chairs.

Moved by Dougall/Moots (4-0-0) to elect Council Member Smith
as Mayor Pro Tem.

Council Member Dougall thanked his family and other
supporters, and said that he understood that he was undertaking a
great responsibility and would try to be worthy.

Council Member Smith thanked her campaign supporters, and said
she would work to the best of her ability to set policy and make
decisions based on a set of rules, regulations, laws and guidlines.

^� ' Council Member Moots said he had enjoyed his past association
with the previous Council and Mayor, and would work hard with the
new Council. He welcomed everyone aboard.
REMARKS BY MAYOR MARK N. MILLIS
Mayor Millis thanked those who voted for him and who helped
him get elected Mayor. He promised to work hard to achieve honest,
open, and responsive city government, and to maintain the unique
quality of life in Arroyo Grande. He said the Council would be
appointing someone to fill the unexpired portion of his Council
term, and asked that names be suggested for the seat. He invited
those in attendance to a reception after the Council Meeting.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 6:45 P.M.
