RESOLUTION NO. 1677
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ARROYO GRANDE HONORING SUPERVISOR
HOWARD D. MANKINS FOR HIS OUTSTANDING SERVICE
TO THE CITIZENS OF SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY'S
FOURTH DISTRICT
WHEREAS, San Luis Obispo County's Fourth District Supervisor,
HOWARD D. HANKINS, has chosen not to run for another term; and
WHEREAS, HOWARD D. MANKINS served as Chairman of the Board of
Supervisors for 1973. 1977, 1978 (first supervisor to serve two consecutive
years as Chairman of the Board), 1982, and Vice Chairman during 1974 and
1979; and was elected and took office January 4, 1971; and
WHEREAS, HOWARD D. HANKINS is a charter member of the Arroyo
Grande Chamber of Commerce, serves on the San Luis Obispo County Pension
Trust Board, the County Building Art Coomlttee, South San Luis Obispo County
Sanitation District, Local Agency Formation Commission, Director of the
County Supervisors Association of California, Treasurer of the County
Supervisors Association of CalIfornia Executive Board, and Chairman of
the Southern California Regional Association of County Supervisors. He
also serves as a member of the California Water Resources Association,
Vice Chairman of the South County Area Transit, Director of the Watershed
Fire Council of Southern California, and alternate member of the Tri-County
Air Pollution Control Board; and
WHEREAS, in the past HOWARD has served ~s Treasurer to Port
San Luis Harbor District (17 years). the County Revenue Sharing Committee,
the Building Space Committee, Economic Opportunity Coomisslon, Director
on the California State Local Agency Formation Commission, member of the
Republican State and County General Committee, California Council on
Criminal Justice, Cubmaster of Pack 432, and has held many offices In these.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
That it recognizes the accomplishments of HOWARD D. MANKINS
as Fourth District Supervisor of San Luis Obispo County and hereby expresses
its thanks and appreciation to HOWARD for the manner In which he has
served the citizens of the Fourth District and professionally administering
his position as Supervisor.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Arroyo Grande wishes continued health and contentment to HOWARD D. HANKINS
in his future endeavors.
On motion of Council Member Millis, seconded by Council Member
Gallagher, and on the following roll call vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Vandeveer, Gallagher, Hillis, Hogan, Mayor Smith
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted this 23rd day of November, 1982.
