Subject:City Council Meeting - Tuesday, July 14th - Item 10.a - Sales Tax on 2020 Ballot
Date:Tuesday, July 14, 2020 3:51:42 PM
I am writing to express my support of placing the additional 1% sales tax measure on the
November ballot. I would like to see it pass. This potential revenue can be used for the upkeep
of the extensive infrastructure and city facilities, and hopefully more so for community
amenities and public space that we can all enjoy, and that we all want maintained or improved.
67 miles of streets don't pay for themselves, and don't receive adequate funding from other
sources, particularly when ample free parking appears to be one of the city's core values.
Extensive underground infrastructure is also surely in need of repair and upkeep, and is
unlikely to be completely funded by property taxes. Others may disagree and can vote
accordingly. Please let the voters decide.
