RESOLUTI ON NO. 1554
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ARROYO GRANDE, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING RESOLUTION
NO. 1551, CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF THE
HOLDING OF A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO
BE HELD IN SAID CITY ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 2,
1982, 1/1 TH THE STATE-WI DE GENERAL ELECT! ON ,
TO BE HELD ON SAID DATE PURSUANT TO SECTION 23302 I
OF THE ELECTIONS CODE I

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Arroyo Grande called i
a Special Municipal Election In,;sald city to be held on November 2, 1982, :

for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of said city the
following measures relating to:
1- The election of Mayor
2. Transient Occupancy Tax increase; and
WHEREAS, the City Council, by Resolution, repealed resolution
No. 1552 calling for an election relating to a measure for transient occupancy I

tax Increase; and t
WHEREAS, it is desirable that said special municipal election be
consolidated with the State-wide General Election to be held on the same
date and that within said city the precincts, polling places and election
officers of the two elections be the same, and that the County Clerk of
the County of San Luis Obispo canvass the returns of the special municipal
election and that said State-wide General Election, and the special municipal
election be held in all respects as if there were only one election;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE, AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: That pursuant to the requirements of Section 23302
of the Elections Code, the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Luis
Obispo be and It is hereby requested to consent and agree to the consolidation
of a special municipal election with the State-wide General Election on
November 2, 1982, for the purpose of submitting to the electors of the
City of Arroyo Grande, three measures to appear on the ballot as follows:
Shall the electors elect a mayor and Yes
four city council members? No
Shall the term of office of mayor Yes
be two years? No
Shall the term of office of mayor Yes
be four years? No
SECT! ON 2: Said County Clerk Is hereby authorized to canvass the
returns of said special municipal election which It is hereby requested to
consolidate with said State-Wide General Election and said election shall :
be held in all respects as if there were only one election, and only one
form of ballot shall be used.
SECTI ON 3: Said Board of Supervisors is hereby requested to
issue instructions to the County Clerk to take any and all steps necessary
for the holding of said consolidated election.

SECTI ON 4; The City of Arroyo Grande recognizes that additional
costs will be incurred by the County by reason of this consolrdation and
agrees to reimburse the County for any such costs.
SECTION 5: That the City Clerk of the City of Arroyo Grande is
hereby directed to file a certified copy of this resolution with the Board
of Supervisors and the County Clerk of the County of San Luis Obispo.
On motion of Counci I Member Millis, seconded by Council Member
Gal1agher, and on the fol1owing roll call vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Gallagher and Millis, Mayor Smith
NOES: Council Members Vandeveer and Hogan
ABSENT: None
the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted this 27th day of July, 1982.
