Subject:Item 11.a - 727 El Camino Real
Date:Tuesday, October 27, 2020 2:31:45 PM
I'm writing to comment on the project at 727 El Camino Real.
Angled on-street parking
Please consider redesigning the angled on-street parking on El Camino Real. El Camino Real
is one of the 2 east/west bike lanes in the city. On-street angled parking poses greater risk to
cyclists here as drivers cannot see cyclists (or other cars for that matter) as they are backing
out of these parking spaces.

Accessibility to the community
The Analysis of Issues states:
The General Plan Land Use designation of the project site is Mixed Use, which is intended
to provide for a variety of retail and service commercial, offices, residential, and
other compatible uses that support multiple neighborhoods and the greater community.
The entire first floor of this project is a parking lot, with the restaurant and conference rooms
elevated above, unreachable by direct access from the street. This project would be better
integrated with and more welcoming to the neighborhood and community if the restaurant and
any other amenities that could potentially serve public benefit were located on the ground
floor. The ground floor would be more easily accessible by walking or biking by residents and
visitors alike (businesses and restaurants on Grand Ave and the village are less than a mile
away) and would be more unified with the surrounding space, rather than using our city's land
as purely a walled garden for tourists and visitors.
