RESOLUTION NO. 1507
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ARROYO GRANDE PROCLAIMING THE WEEK OF
NOVEMBER 22, 1981 AS "FAMILY WEEK"
WHEREAS, the family ;s the basic strength of every free and
orderly socIety and Is the chief school of human virtue; and
WHEREAS, it is right and proper to honor the family as the
primary social unit essential to the continued we11-belng of the CIty
of Arroyo Grande and the State of California; and
WHEREAS, It Is fIttIng that offIcial recognition be given to
the importance of wholesome fami ly Jiving, famlty loyalties and ties; and
WHEREAS, It Is most appropriate that such honor and recognition
be given at the time of year when tradition Is that families and friends
gather together to rejoice in the year's harvest and to count theIr many
blessings and, amid feasting and rejoIcing, offer praises and thanksgIving
to the divine Giver of all good things;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Counci1 of the City of
Arroyo Grande, that the CouncIl Members join with the Joint Ru1es Committee
of the Senate and the Assembly of the State of Ca11fornla In proc1almlng
the week of November 22, 1981, as "Faml1y Week"; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council urges all mayors
and chief officials of the local governments and the people to observe
"Family Week" with all appropriate recognition, ceremonies and activities
and that a suitably prepared copy of this Resolution be presented to the
Governor of this State.
On motion of Council Member Hillis, seconded by Council Member
Vandeveer. and on the following roll call vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Smith, Hogan, Millis, Vandeveer, Mayor Pope
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted this 24th day of November, 1981.
