ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE TO AMEND CHAPTER 9 OF TITLE 8 OF THE ARROYO GRANDE MUNICIPAL CODE TO ADOPT BY REFERENCE THE 1979 UNIFORM SIGN CODE INCLUDING AMENDMENTS THERETO CONCERNING PERMITS, APPLICATIONS, EXEMPTIONS, FEES; REPEAL OF ALL CONFLICTING ORDINANCES THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE DOES ORDAIN AB FOLLOWS: Section 1. Chapter 9 of Title 8 is amended to read as follows: I i Section 8-9.01 ADOPTION OF UNIFORM SIGN CODE I There is adopted for the purpose of providing minimum standards to safeguard life, health, property, and public welfare by regulating and controlling the design, quality of materials, construction, location, electrification, and maintenance of all signs and sign structures not lqcated within a building, that certain Code known as the Uniform Sign Code, published by th~ International Conference of Building Officials, three (3) copies of which have been filed for use and examination by the public in the office of the City Clerk, is hereby adopted by reference and made a part of this chapter as though set forth in this chapter in full, subject however, to the amendments, additions and deletions set forth in this chapter, and said Code shall be known as the Sign Code for the City of: Arroyo Grande. Section 8-9.02 AMENDMENT TO SECTION 301. PERMITS REQUIRED Section 301 of said Uniform Sign Code is amended by adding the following paragraph. No permit shall be issued by the Building Department without firstly obtaining approval to do so from the Planning Director or his Authorized Representative. Section 8-9.03 AMENDMENT TO SECTION 302. APPLICATION FOR PERMIT. Section 302 of said Uniform Sign Code is amended to read as follows: Section 302 application for a Sign Permit shall be made in writing upon forms , , furnished by the Building Official. Such application shall contain the location I by street and number of the proposed sign structure, as well as the name and address of the owner and the sign contractor, or erector. The Building Official may require the filing of plans or other pertinent information where in his opinion such information is necessary to insure compliance with this Code, the I Zoning Ordinance, or any Sign Ordinance hereafter adopted by the City Council. Standard plans may be filed with the Building Official. i Section 8-9.04 AMENDMENT TO SECTION 303 EXEMPTIONS Section 303 (3) of said Uniform Sign Code is hereby deleted. , Section 303 (3) Signs less than six (6) feet above grade. i Section 8-9.05 AMENDMENT TO SECTION 304 FEES !P " Section 304 of said Uniform Sign Code is amended to read as follows: I Section 304. A Sign Permit Fee and a Plan Checking Fee shall be paid in accordance with the schedules established in the uniform Administrative Code, Tables No. 3-A and No.3-B. Section 2. That Ordinance No. 11 C.S of the City of Arroyo Grande entitled An Ordinance of the City of Arroyo Grande for the adoption of "The Uniform Building Code - Signs," volume V, 1967 Edition, and all other Ordinances or parts of Ordin- ances in conflict herewith are repealed. Section 3.
