Enc
Foot traffic: Murals draw visitors to commercial corridors, benefiting every
surrounding business — not just the one on whose wall they appear.
Vacancy reduction: Mural arts programs in cities like Philadelphia and Los
Angeles have been directly linked to lower commercial vacancy rates.
Property values: A 2019 Urban Land Institute study found that public art
increases adjacent property values and retail sales in commercial districts.
Free marketing: Murals designed as photo destinations generate organic
social media impressions that no ad budget can replicate. A well-placed selfie
wall is free destination marketing for the entire Village.
Art changes how people experience a neighborhood. It gives it identity, sparks
conversation, and makes people want to stick around a little longer. Arroyo Grande
has an opportunity to say yes to something creative, community-forward, and
genuinely inspiring. I hope you will.
Thank you for your time and service to our community.
