Mr. Christiansen said that the Lucia Mar Unified School

(1) Commencing March 1, 1990, student parking will be opened
up and on a first come, first serve basis, which should take
between 50 and 75 additional cars off the streets.
(2) Approximately 30 spaces will be added for School District

Mr. Christiansen said he would discuss with the Police Chief the
suggestions made for improving the traffic around the school.

recommended that the low bidder Robert S. Vessely be retained to
design the parking lot behind the City Council Chambers for
$11,250. Mr. Christiansen said the project includes an easement
off Branch Street for access to the parking lot. He said the
Downtown Parking Advisory Board also recommended that City monies,
rather than Parking and Improvement monies, be used on the City -
owned parcel in the event that in the future the City decides to
sell its parcel. He said if this recommendation were followed,
there would be no complicating ties with the downtown merchants.
After Council discussion, it was moved by Smith/Dougall, and
the motion passed, to award the contract for design of the Parking
Lot Behind the City Council Chambers to Robert S. Vessely in the
amount of $11,250, and to follow the recommendations of the
Downtown Parking Advisory Board.
