CC 2013-03-26_08.d. Cancellation of April 9th MeetingMEMORANDUM
TO: CITY COUNCIL
FROM: STEVEN ADAMS, CITY MANAGER ,.
SUBJECT: CONSIDERATION OF CANCELLATION OF APRIL 9, 2013 CITY
COUNCIL MEETING
DATE:MARCH 26, 2013
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended the Council cancel the regularly scheduled Council meeting of April
9, 2013.
IMPACT ON FINANCIAL AND PERSONNEL RESOURCES:
There is some cost savings due to reduced staff time, consultant costs and related
supplies associated with meeting preparation and cable casting.
BACKGROUND:
The Five Cities Fire Authority recently received approval from the Federal Emergency
Management Agency (FEMA) to conduct an Integrated Emergency Management Class
at the National Emergency Training Center in Emmitsbrug, Maryland from April 8 1 h
through the 11th. The exercise will include 75 people from agencies throughout San
Luis Obispo County, including Mayor Pro Tern Costello and most of the City's
department directors. Mayor Ferrara has also indicated he will be out of town during
that week.
ANALYSIS OF ISSUES:
The number of staff and council members absent for the regularly scheduled meeting
on April 9, 2013 will result in minimal agenda items. Therefore, staff recommends the
meeting be cancelled.
