RESOLUTION NO. 3059
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ARROYO GRANDE REPEALING THE 1985 "DESIGN
GUIDELINES FOR THE ARROYO GRANDE VILLAGE"
AND ADOPTING THE "DESIGN GUIDELINES FOR
HISTORIC DISTRICTS" WITH THERECOMMENDA TIONS
PROVIDED BY THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
WHEREAS, Objective 8.0 of the Open Space and Conservation Element of the General i
i
Plan is to "identify and preserve Arroyo Grande's unique historical and archaeological resources !
for future generations"; and ----
WHEREAS, Policy 8.2 of the Open Space and Conservation Element of the General
Plan includes several implementation actions to maintain the architectural integrity of historic
structures; and
WHEREAS, implementation action f of Policy 8.2 requires the City to review the Design
Guidelines for the Arroyo Grande Village to "ensure the coordination of rehabilitation efforts
into a cohesive design, and promote economic growth in that district"; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Arroyo Grande has considered the "Design
Guidelines for the Historic Districts"; VC-D-2.4, SR-D-2.4, O-D-2.4, PF-D-2.4, VR-D-2.4,
HC-D-2.11, and GC-D-2.11; and
WHEREAS, the City referred said guidelines to the Arroyo Grande Chamber of
Commerce who provided comments on the guidelines; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has held a public hearing on these guidelines in accordance
with the City Code; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has found that these guidelines art> consistent with the ----
General Plan as they help preserve significant historic landmarks and provide a design theme that
is consistent with the rural small town character of Arroyo Grande; and

WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed this project in compliance with the California
Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and determined that it is Categorically Exempt per Section
15061 of the CEQA Guidelines.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Arroyo
Grande hereby repeals the 1985 "Design Guidelines for the Arroyo Grande Village" and adopts
said "Design Guidelines for Historic Districts", with the comments provided by the Arroyo
Grande Chamber of Commerce, attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and included herein by
reference.
