Cancellation of 12-24-13 CC MeetingMEMORANDUM TO: CITY COUNCIL FROM: STEVEN ADAMS, CITY MANAGER" SUBJECT: CONSIDERATION OF CANCELLATION OF DECEMBER 24, 2013 CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: NOVEMBER 26, 2013 RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended the City Council cancel the regularly scheduled Council meeting of December 24, 2013 due to the holiday. IMPACT ON FINANCIAL AND PERSONNEL RESOURCES: There is no fiscal impact and a workload reduction impact on staffing resources. BACKGROUND: Traditionally, the City Council has cancelled the second regularly scheduled December meeting due to scheduling conflicts surrounding the holidays. ANALYSIS OF ISSUES: The City Council meets twice a month on the second and fourth Tuesdays. This year the regular meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, December 241h. It is especially necessary this year to cancel the meeting since it falls on Christmas eve, which is a City holiday so staff will not be available. ALTERNATIVES: The following alternatives are provided for the Council's consideration: Cancel the December 24th meeting; Do not cancel the December 24th meeting and appropriate additional funds for work hours for staff to attend; Reschedule the December 24th meeting; Provide direction to staff.
