STRAWBERRY FE'STIVAL
WHER.EAS , the Strawberry Festival COJm1ittee of the Arroyo Grande Village
Improverrent Association has requested closure of portions of Branch Street (Highway
227), from Traffic Way to Mason Street; and Bridge Street, from Branch Street to
Traffic Way, in. the City of Arroyo Grande, State of California, for the period of
6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, May 28 and Sunday, May 29, 1994.

WHEREAS, the Festival Committee has requested closure of Short Street, from
Branch Street to Olohan Alley, for the period of 6 a.m., Friday, May 27 to 6 p.m.,
Sunday, May 29, 1994, and proper barricading and closure to traffic during the night
hours; and
WHEREAS, it has been requested that there be a "No Parking/'!'ow Away Zone" on
both sides of Branch Street (Highway 227), from Traffic Way to Mason Street; Bridge
Street, from Branch Street to Traffic Way; Nelson Street, from Traffic Way to Mason
Street; and Mason Street, from Poole Street to Le Point Street; Poole Street, from
Traffic Way to Mason Street, in the City of Arroyo Grande, State of California, for
a period of 6 a.m. to 6. p.m., Saturday, May 28 and Sunday, May 29, 1994; and
WHEREAS, it has also been requested, for fire/emergency access, that there be
a "No Parking/Tow Away Zone" on both sides of Nevada Street, from Branch Street to
Le Point Street; and Le Point Street, from Nevada Street easterly through the Tally
Ho curve, in the City of Arroyo Grande, State of California, for the period of 6 a.m.
to 6 p.m., Saturday, May 28 and Sunday, ~EY 29, 1994; and
WHER.EAS, the reason for the street closure and restr icted parking will be for
the purpose of holding annual Strawberry Festival activities; and
WHER.EAS, the Arroyo Grande Police Department will arrange for signing during
the period of tine that restricted parking is requested; and
WHER.EAS, the Strawberry Festival C0111T1ittee also has requested use of the parking
lots along Olohan Alley, from Mason to Bridge Streets, from 6 p.m., Friday, May 27
to 6 p.m., Sunday, May 29, 1994, with Olooan Alley being left open for traffic during
the evening hours; the Car Corral, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, May 28 and
Sunday, ~EY 29, 1994; the vacant lot at the corner of Short and Nelson Streets for
parking from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, May 28 and Sunday, May 29, 1994; and the
five-acre lot next to the Coommity Center on West Branch Street, for shuttle parking
on Saturday, May 28 and Sunday, May 29, 1994.
N:M, THEREFORE, THE CITY COlOCIL OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE HEREBY RESOLVES
PS FOLLCMS:
1. That request be wade to the State of California Department of Transportation
for permission to restr ict parking on portions of Branch Street, also known as
Highway 227, from Traffic Way to Mason Street, for the period of 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.,
Saturday, May 28 and Sunday, May 29, 1994.

2. That request also be made to the State of California Department of
Transportation for permission to close portions of Branch Street, also known as
Highway 227, from Traffic Way to Mason Street, for the period of 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday, May 28 and Sunday, May 29, 1994.
3. That the City Council authorizes the restricted parking and closure of
Branch Street, upon receipt of approval from the State Department of Transportation,
for said parking restriction and street closure; and authorizes restricted parking
and closure of other streets as requested by the Strawberry Festival Committee.
4. That the Arroyo Grande Police Department will arrange for "No Parking/Tow
Away Zone" signs on said street.
5. That the Arroyo Grande Police Department will control traffic around the
street closures, and its officers will be stationed to give instructions and
directions to motorists regarding detouring around the street closures.
6. That the City Council authorizes the use of various City parking lots and
vacant lots requested by the Festival CoJIUtlittee.
7. That the Arroyo Grande Village Improvenent Association will provide proof
of proper liability insurance coverage for the City.
8. That the A.G.V.I.A. will corrpensate the City for any extra expenses incurred
by the Strawberry Festival, such as police and clean-up expenses.
9. The A.G.V.I.A. will provide private police for all areas that need
monitoring, such as the Swinging Bridge.
On motion of Council Member Souza, seconded by Council Member Brandy, and on
the following roll call vote, to wit:
