A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ARROYO GRANDE SUPPORTING PROPOSITION II6
FUNDING OF BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN ROUTES;
BICYCLE BRIDGE AWNG FAIR OAKS BOULEVARD
WHEREAS, in June 1990, California Voters passed Proposition 116, the Rail
Transportation Bond Act, which allocated $10.1 million to San Luis Obispo County; and
WHEREAS, qualifying programs under Proposition 116 include bicy<;le projects to
improve safety and convenience to bicycle commuters, and pedestrian improvements to facilitate J
pedestrian commuter travel; and
WHEREAS, there are children and staff members commuting to the Paulding Middle
School, Arroyo Grande High School and Margaret Harloe Elementary School; and
WHEREAS, funding for bicycle and pedestrian routes have been approved on the
Paulding Middle School project, and the Arroyo Grande High School and Margaret Harloe
Elementary School project; and . -

WHEREAS, one void in the link between the schools is providing a snWoth transition
over Highway 101 at Fair Oaks Boulevard;
WHEREAS, a bicycle bridge across Highway 101 at Fair Oaks Boulevard would p!,<>vide
the needed link;
WHEREAS, bicycle and pedestrian improvements are needed to provide safe and
convenient routes for commuters; and
WHEREAS, there is community support to provide safe bicycle and pedestrian access
for the children and citizens of Arroyo Grande;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Arroyo
Grande approves a bicycle/pedestrian bridge across Highway 101 at Fair Oaks Boulevard.

following roll call vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Dougall, Smith, Gallagher and Mayor Millis
NOES: None
ABSENT: Council Member Moots
the foregoing Resolution was adopted this 13th day of October, 1992.
