CC 2015-06-23_08f Appointment to AGTBID BoardMEMORANDUM TO: CITY COUNCIL FROM: ROBERT MCFALL, INTERIM CITY MANAGE~ SUBJECT: CONSIDERATION OF APPOINTMENT TO ARROYO GRANDE TOURISM BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT ADVISORY BOARD DATE: JUNE 23, 2015 RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended the City Council appoint Troi Hoffman to the Arroyo Grande Tourism Business Improvement District (AGTBID) Advisory Board. IMPACT ON FINANCIAL AND PERSONNEL RESOURCES: There is no financial or staffing impact from the recommended action. BACKGROUND: At the February 26, 2013 meeting, the City Council adopted a Resolution establishing the AGTBID Advisory Board. The Resolution set forth that the AGTBID Advisory Board shall consist of three to seven members, 2/3rds of which shall be representatives of local lodging businesses. At the May 14, 2013 meeting, the City Council made the original appointments to the AGTBID Advisory Board. The appointments included three members, all of which were representatives of local lodging businesses. ANALYSIS OF ISSUES: Kevin Thornton, from the Best Western Casa Grande Inn, recently resigned from the AGTBID Advisory Board due to increasing work commitments which will require frequent travel out of the area. Troi Hoffman, the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the Best Western CasaGrande Inn, has submitted an application to fill the vacancy. ALTERNATIVES: The following alternatives are provided for the Council's consideration: • Approve staff's recommendation; • Do not approve staff's recommendation and solicit interest from other lodging businesses; • Provide direction to staff. DISADVANTAGES: No disadvantages have been identified. ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW: No environmental review is required for this item. PUBLIC NOTIFICATION AND COMMENTS: The agenda was posted in front of City Hall on Thursday, June 18, 2015 and the agenda and staff report were posted on the City's website on Friday, June 19, 2015.
