WITH A REDUCED SCOPE OF WORK FOR THE WATER CONSERVATION PUBLIC EDUCATION PROGRAM City Council Meeting September 22, 2015 1 City Council Action – July 28, 2015 Funding for the Cash for Grass Program increased for FY 2015-16 and FY 2016-17 (from $60,000 per year to $274,000 for both years). Funding eliminated for the Smart Irrigation Controller, Landscape Irrigation Retrofit, and System Water Loss Mitigation Programs. Funding reduced for the Water Conservation Public Education Program (from $70,000 to $30,000). 2 Public Education Program - Intent Promote City water conservation incentive programs Modify behavior to use less water Provide education on how water savings can be best achieved (Create on-going water conservation habits, even during non-drought years) 3 Public Education Program - Accomplishments Brand development Website launch Facebook page established Diversified advertising Chanel 20 video Multi-media community educational presentation Banners, signage and flyers created for public display and at events Water billing inserts distributed to all residents 4 Amendments to Verdin Contract: Maintain the website (thinkH2Onow.com) Continue with social media and community outreach Maintain paid advertisement 5 Recommendation: Approve Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement for Consultant Services with Verdin Marketing, Inc. 6
