DATE: FEBRUARY 9, 2016 Attached are comment letters received on the proposed project. cc: City Manager City Attorney City Clerk Public Review Binder Matt Downing From: Sent: To: Subject: Sheri Honeycutt----- Monday, Februa~ Matt Downing Starbucks I'm writing to voice my disapproval of Starbucks selling alcoholic beverages in our city. There are already so many establishments that sell alcohol in our small town. I really wish you would leave some places for kids to hang out where alcohol is not served. Especially in the Starbucks by the theater, I see a lot of kids doing homework or meeting friends to socialize. Why do they have to be subject to adults drinking alcohol? Why does alcohol have to be a part of every eating/drinking establishment? We are setting a bad example to our children when we show that alcohol is a part of every social place we go. To be honest, if this happens, my daughter will not be allowed to go there any more. Thank you for your time. My daughter who is 15 also complained about the idea of Starbucks serving alcohol. She likes to go there and study. Now she says she probably won't go there or go after a movie if the drinking element will be there. Starbucks is also in proximity to many schools. Already this year we have seen the AG downtown area create more drinking establishments. I vote no. Thanks Eric Stever 616 Hillside Ct. Dear AG City Council Members Matt and Kristen: On the topic of Starbucks asking to be able to sell beer and wine, I am voicing an emphatic NO! I am for business and trying to make an extra buck, but this is just not the right location to do this in. As a mother of 4 children and 2 of them have already utilized the Starbucks in this location for studying, and for just hanging out with friends before or after a movie, and enjoying time with friends with OUT the influence of beer or wine being present. We do not have many areas for just teens, and Starbucks is NOT for just teens, however, it works as a great place that is minus these influences. I posted on FB about this and there are both sides, and I can see it isn't like kids aren't exposed to this elsewhere, but that also does not mean that they NEED to be exposed HERE when at the current time they aren't The Inn N Out and Starbucks are the local place for teens for after movies. The Starbucks is also where students meet to tutor other students during the weekends or after school. Free of any influences. I would like to do what I can to have it stay this way. Please vote NO to this request. Thank you for your community service and listening to the arguments of your community members. Christin Brittingham Mother of 4 Many Blessings, . Christin : ) 1
