RESOLUTION NO. 2284
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ARROYO GRANDE REQUESTING AUTHORIZATION TO
CLOSE CITY STREETS
WHEREAS, the Strawberry Festival COlllllli ttee of the City of
Arroyo Grande has requested closure of portions of Branch Street
(Highway 227) from Traffic Way to Mason Street, and Bridge Street,
from Branch to Nelson Streets, in the City of Arroyo Grande, State
of California, for the period of 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Saturday,
May 27, 1989 and 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Sunday, May 28, 1989; and
WHEREAS, that no parking be permitted on both sides of Branch
Street (Highway 227) between Traffic Way and Mason Street, and
Bridge Street, between Branch and Nelson Streets, in the City of
Arroyo Grande, State of California, for the period of 6:00 A.M. to
6:00 P.M. Saturday, May 27, 1989 and 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. sunday,
May 28, 1989; and
WHEREAS, the reason for the street closure and restricted
parking will be for the purposes of holding annual Strawberry
Festival activities; and
WHEREAS, the Arroyo Grande Police Department will arrange for
signing during the period of time that restricted parking is
requested.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE
HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
1. That request be made of the State of California Department
of Transportation for permission to restrict parking on portions
of Branch Street, also known as Highway 227, from Traffic Way to
Mason Street, and Bridge Street, from Branch to Nelson Streets, for
the period of 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. saturday, May 27, 1989 and
6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. sunday, May 28, 1989.
2. That request also be made of the State of California
Department of Transportation for permission to close portions of
Branch Street, also known as Highway 227, from Traffic Way to Mason
Street, and Bridge Street, from Branch to Nelson Streets, for the
period of 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Saturday, May 27, 1989 and 6:00
A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Sunday, May 28, 1989.
3. That the City Council authorizes the restricted parking and
closure of said streets upon receipt of approval from the State
Department of Transportation for said parking restriction and
street closure.
4. That the Arroyo Grande Police Department will arrange for
"No Parking" signs on said streets.
5. That the Arroyo Grande Police Department will control
traffic around the street closures and its officers will be
stationed to give instructions and directions to motorists on
detouring around the street closures.
On motion of Council Member Smith, seconded by Council Member
Dougall, and on the following roll call vote, to wit:

Millis

ABSENT: None
the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted this 24th day of
