~n informal meetin~ of the City Council v~as held to discuss ~
a new ~icense ~rdin~nce. The followin~ Councilmen were present
Councilmen Phillips~Schnyder~T~~enny and Lierly.xbsent I~ayor
Uibson.
License fees were discussed and the Santa TvIaria License Ord. ~
was reviev~aed and su~gestions vaere made but no definite aetion
vaas taken. ~

The City Council met i~ regular session with ~ayor J.S.Gibson .
presiding.
Upon roll call Counci7anen Phillips~~chnyder~lV~enny and Lierly
reported present.
The mi~.utes o~' the previous re~ular and speeial ~neetings were
read and approved as read.
Communications were read and placed on file.
The matter of having extra copies of plumbing Ord.~ 33 printed
for future use was discussed. Mr George Barnes the building and
plmmbin~ inspector suggested we have 500 copies and Councilman
Lierly made a motion which was seconded by C~uncilman Sehnyder
to have the clerk have the extra copies printed.
P,~r C.~..Lindsay appeared anc~ wante~ to Make it clear to the
Council that he and h2r fiendri~ were s.merely having a v~~atchman till
after the holic~ays.
Nr George ~~endrix w~s in to protest against another lic~uor store
being opened here, the City -~.ttorney explained the situation ar.d
and the Council eQUld not take ~ny action until such time as the
15 day notice was posted and then anyone or the Council co~_zld put
in ~ nrotes~ if the~ wished.

Be it resolved,t3~at the Cmty:C_.ouncil of the City of Arroyo Grande
does hereby ~-o on record as being opposed ta having any more
liquor stores or establishraents uvithin the City of
Arroyo Grande
and that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the State
Board of ~u~lization.

It was reported that scales along the sidewalk were a nuisanee
and liable to cause an accident ancl the Council agreed the sto~e-
keepers or anyone having them along the street be;notified to
keep them off the sidewalk.
N~r L.~.Brisco a~?peared and talked over the water line propmsition
/ and after a discussion a~otion vaas made by Councilman Sehnyder,
seconde~ by Councilman Lierly to replace the 1850 feet 12 inch
pipe with 2 in.and P~r Brisco agrees to lay the 1=1 in.~ipe on down
the hill and furthermore agrees to giv~ alI the Rights of trJays and
the entire line then be the property of the City of 4rroyo Grande
r^later Dept.
Councilman Lmerly made a motion,seconded by ~ouncilman Phillips
to take a years membership in the Pacific Coast Buildings ~fficials
ConfErenc e~ for the coming year .
The clerk v~ras instructed to write ~ letter to Alphonzo F.BelI
~o see if soma a~rangement could be made to use the old railroad
right of way from Huebner Street to :~llen St for a roar~_.
The applications for buildin~ permits were looked over and the
permit for C.L.Thurm~n was considered way ~ot~:'low and they agreecA
to pass on it if it w~.s raised to ~ 4000. A motion was made by
Gouncilman Lierly~seconded by Councilman Schnyder to the
following permits: Deril P.`~laiters to build store Ala2~g~ ~ 5000~
Robt.Rountree gara~e and washrack 500~Grimes and Edwardsremodel
o~'fice 200~C.L.Conrew Porches and ~arage 1000,Denison and Hapkins
inatall neon sign 1>5 an`~. C.L.Thurman to build house for 4000.
A warrant on the General r~und ~'or ~ 52.00 was audited~Approved
and ordered ~aid.
The Council l~eviewed the list of ~raater users where there were
more tha~ l house on a meter and it was ~greed they should be
raised to $ 2.00 a unit.

adjourned.
