Background
Federal program that distributes funds to cities and counties.
Allocation of CDBG funds can be made for a variety of projects as long as one of the following National Objectives are met:
Benefit low- and moderate-income persons;
Aid in the prevention or elimination of slums or blight; or
Address urgent community development needs that pose a serious or immediate threat to public health or welfare.

2017 Grant
The County has estimated that $73,446 in CDBG funds will be available to the City in the fall of 2017 (2.8% decrease from 2016)
The County will help the City administer the program.

Public Services

Recommended 2017 CDBG Allocation

Public Facilities
$58,757 to improve ADA accessibility for the Soto Sports Complex (“Soto Sports Complex Barrier Removal Project – Phase III”).
Project includes a ramp from the Soto Sports Complex parking lot to the Santos Field bleachers and dugout.
This project was identified as a priority given the large number of people that use the Sports Complex each year.

Arroyo Grande
Community Service Grant
$20,000 available to eligible non-profit organizations that provide social service, educational, cultural, beautification and recreational programs and projects.
Last year, the City received 11 applications totaling $53,000.
The deadline to submit a completed application is December 9, 2016.

Recommendation
It is recommended the City Council provide preliminary approval of proposed projects to be funded with the City’s allocation of CDBG funds for Year 2017 as presented.
