~ The City Council met in regular session with Mayor Burt presiding. ITpon ra11 •
call Councilmen Kerr, Pence, Simpson and Brennan reported present. The minutes of
the previous regul.ar meeting were read and approved as read.
Mr~ Edwin Taylor, representing the Arroyo Grande Soil Conservation District,
appeared before the City Council and presented an application for planning,assist- -
ance from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to make a water survey. On.motion •
of Councilman Simpson and seconded by Councilma.n Kerr the Council authori~ed
Mayor George A. Burt to sign the reso~ut~on prepared by the A.G. Soil Conse~'va~ion
District requesting aid for planning assistance from the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture.
Motion carried. .
The Planning Commission recommeridation that the city acquire the former P,G.'
right-of-way property was discussed and Councilman Simpson agreed to Eon'~.act Geei~.
Evans and get information on what was left of the property. ~
The letter from Mr. Strother in regard to the sewer line from the ~+d8er~t~.st
Church 5chool crossing his property was read and discussed. Mr. Harris ~greed t~
write a letter or agreement for the Adventist Church stating if any trouble:~should
arise they would remove the line and put it in the street. Mr. Anderson said ~
lamphole could be installed which would help prevent any trouble. _
Mr. Anderson asked about having the pump pulled in the 50 H.P. well~ said;the

column. A motion was made by Simpson, seconded by Kerr to.haye the work doz~e and
if it should exceed the ~300.00 he wQuld contact the council before proceedir~g
further. Motion carried. .
Mr. Naylor representing the Harvest Festival asked about the_closing of the
streets on the 21~th and 25th and the city agreed to write the Highway Dept. for
permission to clos~ the street as in former years. He also requested use of ,
sanitary facilities at the hall dur~.ng the festival and for use of the hall for
showing pictures. The request was granted. .He asked about help from the City,
Employees in putting up booths etc. He was told the men were extra busy at this
time and it was recommended that they try,and get other help and if they could not
the City Employees might help out for a couple hours.
A petition was read requesting the council to have the existing Dog C7rd3nanee
enforced. Mr. R. A. J3ishop, Mr. John 1~Ii.lldrum and several others were present and
protested about the dogs barking. An ordinance prepared by the County was read in

part and the council agreed to read and study the ordinance. Mr. Daley County '
Poundmaster agreed to attend the council meeting Sept. 21st to discuss the adoption
of the ordinance. It was suggested the planning commission members might attend
the meeting and see how they felt about the adoption of a uniform dog ordinance.
RESOLU`l'ION #318 .
A N.esolution of the City Council of the ~ity of Arroyo Grande to .
authorize M. U. Yruess, City Treasurer, to cash (1) one $3700.OU
.bond of ~5000.00 maturity value, ~v15651~8F, to be put in the ~
Water F'und.
On motion of Councilman Brennan, seconded by Councilman Pence the foregoing
resolution was adopted by the following roll call vote:
~YES: Councilmen ~surt, Kerr, Pence, Simpson and Brennan.
NOES: None

T~ir. tinderson reported the survey lines had been run so the easements could be ~
~
written on the Head property and on the Saruwatari property so the water line could ~
be'installed across the creek.
Chief Mize asked about having signs made to put up on the sewer farm and the
council authorized the painting of the signs and they were to be paid for from the
Sewer Rental Fund.
The dance license for Mrs. Alice Ilenstine was discussed and on motion of
Gouncilm~:n ~rennan, and seconded by Gouncilman Simpson it was agreed to have Mr.
Harris prepare a resolution setting the fee at $12.50 per quarter instead of $19.5~.

Bills against the General Fund for ~p5202.57, the Water Fund for ~8572.07, the
lvater Deposit Fund for ~y16.65, and the Sewer Rental Fund for ~22.2L~ were audited,
approved and ordered paid.
It was moved and seconded that vouchers #~7-8-9-10-11 and 1~ be authorized for
transfer.
No further business appearing it was moved, seconded and carried that the
meeting adjourn.
