RESOLUTION NO. 3287

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARROYO
GRANDE, CALIFORNIA, SETTING PRIORITIES FOR FILING WRITTEN
ARGUMENTS REGARDING CITY MEASURES AND DIRECTING THE
CITY ATTORNEY TO PREPARE IMPARTIAL ANALYSES
WHEREAS, a General Municipal Election is to be held in the City of Arroyo Grande,
California, on November 3, 1998, at which there will be submitted to the voters the
following measures:
CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE
MEASURE - YES
Shall the City increase the
Transient Occupancy Tax
(hotel/motel bed tax) from 6% to NO
10%, effective January 1, 1999?

CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE
MEASURE - YES
Beginning January 1, 2001, shall
the offices of City Clerk and City NO
Treasurer be appointive?
CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE
MEASURE - YES
Shall the City continue to collect
a Utility Users Tax, currently at NO
2.4% ?
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE,
CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE, AND ORDER AS
FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. That the City Council, being the legislative body of the City of Arroyo
Grande, hereby authorizes:
A. K. "Pete" Dougall,
Michael Lady,
Michael Fuller,
Thomas A. Runels, and
Steve Tolley,
members of that body, to file written arguments in favor of the City measures as
specified in accordance with Article 4, Chapter 3, Division 9 of the Elections Code of the
State of California and to change the arguments until and including Monday, July 13,
1998, the date fixed by the City Clerk atter which no arguments for or against the City
measure may be submitted to the City Clerk.
SECTION 2. That the City Council directs the City Clerk to transmit copies of the
measures to the City Attorney, unless the organization or salaries of the Office of the
City Attorney are affected. The City Attorney shall prepare impartial analyses of the
measures showing the effect of the measures on the existing law and the operation of
the measures. If the measures affect the organization or salaries of the office of the
City Attorney, the City Clerk shall prepare the impartial analyses. The impartial
analyses shall be filed by Monday, July 13, 1998, the date set by the City Clerk for the
filing of primary arguments.
SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this
Resolution and enter it into the book of original Resolutions.
On motion of Council Member Tolley, seconded by Council Member Runels, and on the
following roll call vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Tolley, Runels, Lady, Fuller, and Mayor Dougall
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted this 12th day of May, 1998.
