HONORARY PROCLAMATION DECLARING
JANUARY 2018 AS
"WOMEN'S MARCH SAN LUIS OBISPO MONTH"
WHEREAS, on January 21, 2017, the organizers of the Women's March San Luis Obispo, in unity with
millions of people around the world, gathered 10,000 people for the largest event of its kind in County
history, in a peaceful and positive demonstration of support of an. equitable, tolerant, just and safe world
for all; and
WHEREAS, Women's March SLO stands in solidarity to protect women's rights, human rights, our
safe9', health, and planet, as we move toward a positive and just future; and
WHEREAS, in 2017, Women's March SLO created over 15 events including rallies, outreach programs,
panels, and vigils that brought awareness and gave voice to thousands of community members; and
WHEREAS, Women's March SLO will present a Rally on January 20, 2018 that will include components
in conjunction with Arts Obispo and the History Center of San Luis Obispo County that will educate the
public on· how important it is for them to be actively involved in the political process; and
WHEREAS, the people of the City of Arroyo Grande will have a chance to participate in this rally and the
events surrounding it and to be a part of another peaceful outpouring of hope, linked with millions of
people worldwide.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that I, Jim Hill, Mayor of the City of Arroyo Grande, do
hereby proclaim January 2018 as ''Women's March San Luis Obispo Month", to honor the thousands of
concerned citizens who march, rally and work every day of the year to ensure equal rights and inclusion
