1
Background

Currently 3 Board Members
Tourism Marketing Committee
Provide recommendations to TBID Advisory Board
6 members with knowledge and expertise in tourism
2/14/2018
2
Current Situation
Participation by lodging businesses difficult
Lack of clarity on goals, roles and processes
Responsiveness to opportunities that arise
2/13/2018
Lack of interest by lodging businesses to participate makes it difficult to put together a full Board
Roles of the Marketing Committee and the Board are unclear. Decisions and recommendations are not always shared or communicated, leading to frustration or an incomplete understanding
of goals or processes.
Quarterly meetings make it difficult to respond to “last minute” deals for advertising or other opportunities that arise between meetings
3
Proposed Revision
Combine Advisory Board and Marketing Committee into one Advisory Board
Amend bylaws to allow 3 – 9 members, 2 of which are owners of lodging businesses, if interested
Other members are those with knowledge of tourism and/or the lodging industry
Regular monthly meetings (replaces monthly Marketing Committee and quarterly Board meetings)

4
Advantages
More efficient operation of the Board
Clarity of roles, goals and processes
Ability to be responsive and nimble to opportunities

5
Recommendation
Adopt a Resolution revising the AGTBID Advisory Board By-Laws by expanding its allowable membership up to 9 members and substitute regular quarterly meetings for monthly meetings
Appoint the 3 current AGTBID Advisory Board members and the 6 Tourism Marketing Committee members to constitute the new AGTBID Advisory Board
