RESOLUTION NO. 1952
A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING PROPOSITION 43
WHICH PLACES BEFORE THE VOTERS OF
CALIFORNIA ON JUNE 3, 1986, A BOND
MEASURE TO PROVIDE FUNDING FOR PARKS
AND RECREATIONAL DEVELOPMENT, RESTORATION,
LAND ACQUISITION AND OTHER RELATED PURPOSES
WHEREAS, the Le9islature of the State of California has adopted and
the Governor has signed the Community Parklands Act of 1986, which is
known as Proposition 43; and
WHEREAS, parks and recreation programs vastly enhance our environment
and our lives; and -
WHEREAS, leisure facilities and open spaces in both urban and rural
areas are necessary to life, since they have a substantial effect on mental
and physical health, economic productivity and social problems; and
WHEREAS, Proposition 43 would place before the voters of California
a measure to provide financing of a program of acquiring, developing,
or augmenting existing, recreational areas, and adding or improving facilities
in and near population centers; and
WHEREAS, enhancement of parks and recreational facilities projects
have direct economic benefit to our community and the state as a whole;
and moreover, will benefit the health and well-being of Californians.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Arroyo Grande goes
on record in support of Proposition 43.
On motion of Councilmember Gallagher, seconded by Councilmember Moots,
and on the following roll call vote, to wit:
AYES: Mayor Smith and Councilmembers Gallagher, Johnson, Moots and
Porter
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None
the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted this 13th day of May,
1986.
