I received this information from Alicia Lara this afternoon but am unable to attend tonight's
meeting. However, I would like my comments reflected in public record. Three comments
about the Grace Lane Assessment portion:
First, why is there such a large fund balance; the$53,000 fund balance is three times the
annual costs. Why aren't our assessments reduced to reflect the actual need rather than
accumulating the money in the assessment district's budget? The results of collecting three
times what is needed to cover the costs is current Grace Lane property owners are paying for
"services" that they aren't even receiving and may never receive (e.g., a current resident who
sells his/her house would be paying now for services they will never receive).
Second, no weed abatement has been done in the open space this year; I believe it is usually
done in May.
Third,a portion(and in some instances all)of lots 1 through 8 and 12 through 19 are included in Zone 1 for weed
abatement in the assessment district;however,it has not been done since 2012.
My husband and I met with Mr. Bergman, Mr. Robeson and Ms. McClish earlier this year to
discuss the assessment district. They are aware that weed abatement on lots 1 through 8 and
12 through 15 was not done as required by the assessment district.
Please revisit the calculation of the assessments. We already have to pay more than we should
since the residents on Emerald Bay and Rodeo Dr.whose properties abut the open space pay
nothing for the maintenance costs.
Please let me know what adjustments are going to be made before providing the County with
the assessments for our property tax bills.
Thank you,
Claudine Lingo
