✓ To calculate our per capita water use the formula - is the volume of P. ").
water in gallons that is introduced into the system for a month or year,
in this case divided by the number of days and divided by the
population of our service area which is 17,636.
✓ Remember our service population is different than our actual
population because OCSD serves 329 residents inside the City limits.
✓ The current average residential use in California is 85 gallons per
person/day.
✓ In 2018 our City's average was 90 gpcd. So we are slightly above
average.
✓ Arroyo Grande's overall per capita use is reported at 112 gpcd for
2018 that includes all commercial, irrigation and any other use.
✓ The current state wide average for overall per capita is 181gpcd.
✓ We have dropped to 112gpcd in 2018 compared to 183gpcd in 2008
so in the last 10 years we have reduced our consumption of water by
61%!
✓ Our conservation efforts and tiered rates and just the general overall
education of our customers has resulted in tremendous reduction.
