CC 2020-06-23_07 Supplemental No 2 MEMORANDUM TO: CITY COUNCIL FROM: JESSICA MATSON, DEPUTY CITY CLERK SUBJECT: SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION AGENDA ITEM 7 – JUNE 23, 2020 CITY COUNCIL MEETING COMMUNITY COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS DATE: JUNE 23, 2020 Attached is additional correspondence received. cc: Acting City Manager City Attorney City Clerk City Website (or public review binder) From:Linda Drummy To:Kelly Wetmore Subject:Please see if you can put this in tonight’s Council meeting for discussion Date:Tuesday, June 23, 2020 9:39:18 AM Attachments:Health Officer Order 2020-10.pdf ATT00002.txt Hi Kelly… I’m forwarding you a copy of the Santa Barbara in forcible mask wearing ordinance. We don’t have anything like this yet in the county… However, I think that we can put this in as a city ordinance. The police can do nothing to enforce mask wearing without an actual code enforcement number to apply ticketing etc. against. Please ensure that the council members have this on their agenda for this evening’s meeting. From:Georgia Crowley To:public comment Subject:Change needs to happen now Date:Tuesday, June 23, 2020 12:30:14 PM Hello, I am writing a public comment addressing systemic racism and oppression in our society. I am demanding that you support all of the R.A.C.E matters demands in your jurisdiction. I am writing to demand that you adopt a resolution declaring that RACISM IS A PUBLIC HEALTH CRISIS. I demand that the city connects and collaborates with individuals who work on diversity, inclusion, equity, or racial justice in order to move forward and implement change that will actually change things. We have been ignoring the deep faults in our system for far too long. We must change. I wanted to see if the City Of Arroyo Grande could pass such an ordinance for this city. And I will work on the other cities as we move forward. I have been in touch with Dr. Borenstein and she’s all in favor of the masks, however she said that it’s up to the individual police departments to make and enforce a civil ordinance so that this can be ticketed or fined. Please discuss this and move forward so that our city does not get additional cases of the COVID-19. Thank you very much. Linda Drummy Arroyo Grande
