Council Meeting direction to bring discussion of fireworks ordinance forward
Municipal Code Chapter 8.08 - Fireworks
Allows the sale and discharge of fireworks approved by the California Fire Marshall (“safe and sane” fireworks) within the City

Current Chapter 8.08
Sales
May occur only at temporary booths permitted by the City’s fire chief (FCFA)
Booth must be operated and maintained by a recognized charitable, civic or patriotic group or organization
Applications for permits filed with the FCFA between March 1-April 15 each year
Max permits = 6
Sales may occur between noon on June 28th through noon on July 5th
Discharge
Allowed on July 4th only, but anytime of day

Recommendation
Discuss Arroyo Grande Municipal Code Section 8.08 related to the sale and discharge of Class C (“Safe and Sane”) fireworks, and provide direction to staff regarding potential changes
to the existing code section, such as a complete prohibition of fireworks in the City or other modifications.
