PC Minutes 1969-03-18214 Planning Commission Arroyo Grande, California March 18, 1969 The Planning Commission met in regular session with Chairman McMillen pre- siding. Present are Commissioners Moss, St. Denis, Skelton, and Strother. Commissioners Porter and Sawyer.are absent. Administrator Butch and Planning Director Gallop are also in attendance. MINUTE APPROVAL On motion of Commissioner Skelton, seconded by Commissioner St. Denis, and unanimously carried, the minutes of the regular meeting of March 4, 1969 were approved as prepared, NOTIFICATION FROM LUCIA MAR UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT OF INTENT TO PURCHASE PROPERTY Director Gallop advised a letter had been received from the Lucia Mar Unified School District yesterday, which is official notification of the School District's intent to purchase a parcel of property, approximately 5 acres, adjacent to and south of the Orchard Avenue School. The letter does not state the intended use. Director Gallop stated the Commission has 30 days to make a report to the District or submit any comments. Chairman McMillen requested that the Planning Director investigate the notice and prepare a written report and recommendations to the Commission for the next meeting. COASTAL - VALLEY PLANNING COUNCIL Director Gallop advised that due to Commissioner Skelton's leaving the City, a vacancy is created on the Coastal- Valley Planning Council, and recommended that an appointment not be made until after the appointment of a new Commission member. Director Gallop also advised that the first formal meeting of the Coastal - Valley Planning Council was held Monday, March 17th, and Gene Mintz was elected as Chairman for the year, and Alan Sawyer was elected as Vice Chairman. CITY INSPECTION OF MOBILE HOME PARKS Chairman McMillen advised he had attended the City Council meeting of March 11th, and that the Council turned down the Planning Commission's recommendation for City inspection of Mobile Home Parks, however, they indicated this would be a test case and if the Mobile Home Parks did not get the proper service, they would take the matter back into consideration. LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES MEETING Administrator Butch advised the Commission of the League meeting in Santa Paula on Saturday, March 29th on "Municipal Financing ". PUBLIC HEARING - USE PERMIT CASE NO. 69 -137, FREE STANDING SIGN, 150 WEST BRANCH Upon being assured by Director Gallop that the Public Hearing for Use Permit Case No. 69 -137, Free Standing Sign, 150 W. Branch Street, had been duly published, posted, and property owners notified, Chairman McMillen declared the hearing open. Mr. Ken Craig was present and corrected the staff report as the size of the sign being 4° x 8', instead of 10' x 20' as indicated on the report. He also indicated there is a 12' clearance to the bottom of the sign. No further discussion for or against the proposed Use Permit, Chairman McMillen declared the hearing closed. After a brief discussion, the following action was taken: RESOLUTION NO. 69 -119 U A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE GRANTING A USE PERMIT, CASE NO. 69 -137. On motion of Commissioner Moss, seconded by Commissioner St. Denis, and by the following roll call vote, to wit: AYES: Commissioners Moss, St. Denis, Skelton, Strother and McMillen NOES: None ABSENT: Commissioners Porter and Sawyer the foregoi=ng Resolution was adopted this 18th day of March, 1969. 1 Planning Commission, 3-18-69, PRESENTATION OF NAME PLATE Chairman McMillen expressed his appreciation and thanks to Commissioner Skelton for his work on the Commission, and Commissioner Moss presented Commissioner Skelton with his name plaque, ADJOURNMENT There being no further business before the Commission, Chairman McMillen declared the meeting adjourned at 7:53 P.M.
