PC Minutes 1968-01-16126 Planning Commission Arroyo Grande, California January 16, 1968 The Planning Commission met in regular session with Chairman McMillen presiding. Present are Commissioners Porter, Sawyer, Schultz, $mith and Strother. Absent is Commissioner Moss. Also in attendance are Councilwoman Thompson, Councilmen Levine and Burt, and Planning Director Gallop. MINUTE APPROVAL On motion of Commissioner Schultz, seconded by Commissioner Porter, and unanimously carried, the minutes of the meeting of January 2nd, 1968 were approved as prepared. MONTEREY COUNTY PLANNING COUNCIL MEETING Director Gallop reminded the Commission that this was the same date as the "Congress for Community Progress" meeting. After discussion, the Commission decided that those who could, would attend the local Congress meeting rather than the Monterey meeting, and instructed the secretary to write a letter of regrets to the Monterey County Planning Council. PROPOSED BASIC COURSE IN PLANNING AT CUESTA COLLEGE After a brief discussion, the Commission requested that more information be obtained in regards to the number of classes which would be involved and the nights on which the classes would be held before making any decision, REViEW - USE PERMIT CASE NO, 65 -56 - DON E. KEITH TRUCKING CO. The Planning Director outlined past action, reminding the Commission that the Use Permit was reviewed in July of 1967 with a six month review period attached on approval, and also indicated there had been no material change during the past six months on land uses in the area and recommended that the case be reviewed again in another six months. Mr. Al Browne, adjacent property owner interested in a golf course sub- division development, was present and indicated no objections to the recom- mended extension. After discussion by the Commission, on motion of Commissioner Smith, seconded by Commissioner Strother, and unanimously carried, the Commission agreed to extend the use and review again in six months. LIAISON TO CITY COUNCIL Commissioner Smith reported on the last Council meeting in respect to the action on the Lopez Road recommendation, and informed the Commission that the Council had taken no action; that there were two persons that had objected to the name change; and the Council had instructed City Administrator Butch to contact the County Supervisors in regards to the recommendation, and to request information as to the County's opinion on the matter, Commissioner Smith also indicated that after Council discussion con- cerning the joint study sessions on the new zoning map, it was his opinion that the Council would sit in on the study sessions, but would prefer not to make any recommendations until after the Commission had submitted a new zoning map to them for their consideration. ADJOURNMENT On motion of Commissioner Schultz, seconded by Commissioner Strother, and unanimously carried, the meeting was adjourned to the study session at 8:00 p.m. Chairm
