The Planning Commission met in �egular session with Chaorman McMillen
presidingo Present are Commissioners Duvall, Moss Porter,.a.nd Strother,
Commissioners Schultz and Smith are absent,
AJso in attendance are Councilman Levine., City Administrator Butch,
Public Works Director Anderson, and Planning D�rector G�llop,
MINUTE APPROUAL
On motion of Commissioner Duvall, seconded by Commissioner Strother,
and unanimously carried, the minutes of the special meeting of August 15th,
1967 were aR��oved as �re�ared., a�d the minutes of the special meeting of
August 24th were approved as corrected to change the two "sustaining"

Director Gallop advised the Gommission that the County of San Luis
Obispo was setting up a tour �f the Lopez Dam area for Saturday, September
9th, and that anyone wishing to go on the tour should be in the parking
lot behis�d the City Hall at 9:OC a,me on that date.

Gommissic�ner Strother advised the Commission that he had.r.ece.ived a
la�ter from Co�gressman Talcott regarding Federal programs covering rat
exterminateono Director Gallop read the letter to the Commission.
PI�BLIC HEARVNG - USE PERMI�' NO 67�-11 - Assembly of God Educational Units,
Corner of Bell arad Bennett Streets (Lucia Mar Unified School District)
U�on being assured by Director Gallop, that the Public Hearing for
Use Permit No, 67-115 Lucia Mar Unified School District, to allow for
Continuation Edsacation classes in the Asse�nbly of God Educational Units
located at the corner of Bell and Bennett Streets, in an R-1 Zone had
been duly posted, published and property owners notified, Chairman McMillen
declared the.hearing opene Mr. Earl Denton, Superintendent of the Lucia
Mar Unified School District, was present and spoke in favor of the Use
Permit being granted, stating that this would be a temporary use for
several years until such a time the District could provide adequate
facilities within one of the present school properties.
C1ra Denton stated that he had read the staff recommendations and felt
there wauld be no problem regarding off-street parking because most of the
students do not have automobiles, and that the School District might
possibly provide bus service,
Mr. Denton questioned th� requirement made..by the Public Works Depart-
ment for 4'- integral sidewalks on Bell and Bennett Streets within the
s�bject p�'operty, stating that the entire interior area was e.ither paved
or hard s.urfaced, Director Anderson stated that it is desirable to have
s.idewalks around s.chools and che�rches.
After discussion Mr, Denton stated that the requirement for sidewalks
would be accept3ble with the School District, subject to consent of the
o��rners of tl�e proper�y. There were no protests to the use, No further
dis.cussion for or against the request, Chairman McMellen declared the
hear�r�g closed.
