MINUTE APPROVAL On motion of Commissioner Moss, seconded by Commissioner Porter, and unanimously carried, the minutes of �he regular meeting of April 18th, 1967 were approved as pxepared, REVIEHT-USE PERMIT N0. 66-82 - 414 Tra�fi.� lniay (I�nott� Planning Dire�ctor Gtr.11op reviewed IJse Perm3� No. 66-82 that was granted to R. J. Knotts on April 26th, T966, by Resolution No. 66-19 U to allow for an Automo�kive Gara��e at 414 Tr.a�fic Waye Director Gallop ad- vised_that a staff inspection of th,e premises indicates subs�antial com- pliance with the canditior�s of the permit, �hat �he property was cl.eaned up and maintained in an orderly mann�x, there was no storage of vehicles in front of the structuxe, no excessive storage of f-lammable materials and tha� the staff would recommend �hc�� no f�urther review would be necessary. REVIEW-USE PERMIT NO. 66-96 - 1542 Grand AWe, (Sanders) ,,.. Planning Director Gallop rev�.ewed Use Permit No. 66-96 that wns granted to Wa�ren Sanders an November lst, 1966, by Resolution No. 66-43 U to allow for Motorcycle R�ntal at 1542 Grand Ave, Director Gallop advised that the s�taff had checked the premises and �ound compliance with the con- ditions of the permit, that the premises i� s.n fnirly good order, there have been no problems created to dnte to the Police Department's knowledge, and that.the staff would recommend a review in six months. On motion of Commissioner Porter, seconded-.by Comm.issioner Moss, and unanimously carried, Use Peimit No. 66-96 was,�to be contiz�ued with a review in six months. � � . MR. EARL J, IUNKER - SLO CHAPTER AMERICAN RED CROSS Mr. Earl J. Iunker� Chairman of the San Luis Obispo Chapter of the American Red �xoss advised that several letters had been received.in his office requesting o. Chapter of the Red Cxoss be establ.ished in the South County area. He sta�ed it was felt that n Committee in the South County area, to work in conjunction with the San Luis Obispo Chapter, would be of assist�nce to the xesidents as �khe cammittee members would be more familiar with the nrea and would be close at hand if needed. Mr. Iunker also brief- ly outlined the services available through Red Cross. Mr. Iunker cancluded his remarks by indicating the need of a Volunteer Chairmnn for this area and �.ndicated if anyone was interested to plense contact him. Chairma.n Strother thanlced him for his presentation, PUBLIC HEARING-USE.PERMIT CASE N0. 67-�106 - 620 Gxand Ave. (Folkerts) Director Ga.11op assursd Chairman Strother, that the Public Hearing for Use Permit Case Noe 67-106, Robext F. Folkerts to allow for the in- stallation of a tw� (2) car coin operated car wash at 620 Grand Ave. in a C-1 Zone had been duly posted, published and property owners notified. Director Gallop advised that the s�taff had no ser.ious objection to this use being permitted an this praperty, that �.t would not create any pnrti- culnr additional traffic or parking problems because of the size of the property, that the sta�f would recommend a solid fence or wall be con- structed nlong �the entire propexty 1.ine which abuts residential zoning and/or use, that the raaste water be disposed of to the satisfaction of the Public Works Directox� tha�k all �rash caz�tain�xs be encJ.osed and out of view of Grand Ave. and the use be reviewed zn six manths. Bureau advisin� �ha� they felt the propased site loca�ion fc�r a new Fire Station location as shown on the Publi�c Bui.ldings Plan on the north side of Branch S�tree between Wesley Ave. and Nevada St. is Yn their opinion an excellex�t location for maxim�un effe��iveness for fire department re- sponse to the exis�ing ¢xreas of the City, and also advising that �hey are not aware of any local conditions tha�t might abr�gate th.is site as an ef- fective �acili�y, bu�t from the plans s�zbmi�t�red, they do endorse and recom- mend the locatiora that has been chosen. The Commission discussed the fac�t that they had requested Fire Chief Marsalek �o appear befare them to consider the proposed new location and City Administrator Butch suggested that the Commission reques�t'the Fire Chief submit a repor�t �hrough his office. After discussior�, on motion of Commissioner Moss, seconded by Commissi�ner Duvall, and unanimously car- ried, the Commissi�n requested the City Administrator to request Fire Chief Marsdlek to prepare a report and appear before the Planning Commis- sion regarding the proposed locati.on fo� a new fire station as shown in the Public Buildings Element of t�he Geraeral Plnn. LETTER FROM BURT L. °TALCOTT, U. S. �°ONGRESSMAN REGARDING I�. R. 4137. Correspondence was received from Burt L. T'alcott, U. S. Congressman thanking the Commission for support.ing H. R. 4137, which the Commission had done by adopting Resolution No. 67-54 regar.ding the Highway Beauti- fication Ac�t of 1965, COMMENDATION TO STAFF Mr. Robert Folkerts adWised the Commission �hat he felt that Plan- ning Director Ga11op and Planning Secretary Wilson shouTd be commended for their efforts in processing Use Permit Case Noa 67-106 so it was not delayed un�il a�ater mee�ting, although �he applica�ion was received twenty four hours later than the �ime designated.
