graph Company to construct a cammux�ications equi.gment building at 157
No. Halcyon Road in a C-1 Zone had been duly pc+sted, published and pro-
perty o`nrners noti�ied. Ds.rec�kor Ga11op rev.iewed the application and
noted that architectuxal approval was nc�t be�.ng requested at this time
as the purchas� o� the propesty depez�ded �n the Use Fermit being granted
and there was no aziticipa�ed use af this px�p�rty for a corporate yard.

story, that no business would be conducted with the public from this

and Recreation Commission, to allow �or two free standing signs at
approximately 550 Sc�. Tra��ic Way in a. HS Zone and at approximately
900 Old Highway 101 i.n a RA-B3 Zone, had b��n dul.y posted,published and.
proper�ty owners notified, Vice Chai�man Sc}z*�.ltz dec�ared the hearing
open. Director Gallop explained �h� signs would bs placed in the two
Wayside Pnrks and that the 's.igns �►ould be in l�eepa.ng with the design
used at the Branch Street Gar Corral, woul.d not b�e illuminated at this
time, and w�uld be apprQxim�ately 20 fee�t high az�d 18 feet wide at �the

Director of Public Works Anderson gresented a map of the area be- :
tween Halcyon Road and B�isco Road on �he Nm��h s�de of Grand Ave, and
reviewed tHe portion of Bennett Avee �hat the C�me�e�y District re-
quest.ed be abandoned and pr�sented a general ��tYine �howing that
Bennett Ave. could be con��nued to connec� with L�nda Drive. Mre J. E.
Anderson recommended that that port�on of Bennett Ave, be abandoned as
requested, and that road easements be gran�ed for Bennett Ave. to be
continued Southwesterly fur a possible f�t�re connec�ion to the Linda
Drive development. The Commission discussed �he possibility of a plan-
ned development for this area and agreed the Cemetery District should
be contacted before further considera��on wa,s given the proposed aban-
donment. A motion was made by Commissioner McM�llen, seconded by Com-
missiorier Porter t�ut Public Works Director Anderson contact the Arroyo
Grande District Cemet�ry Board and determine af �hey would be willing
to deed, fox street purposes, a parcel A� la�d an tfie Southeasterly
portion of the Cemetery property� as xt is the feeling of the Commis-
sion tha� they could not recommend abandanment of a portion of Bennett
Ave. unless another outlet could be prov3ded fore Motion carried.
RECONSIDERP�TION OF CONDITIONS-OF USB PERMIT N0. 67-101 (Brennan)
A request received from Mx. Meuxy Brennnn �o reconsider the re-
striction of �'no encroachment into p�abl�.c right-of-way" on Valley Rd.
for a free standing sign �ahich had been grarnted by Use Permit No. 67-
101, Reso].ut.ion No, 6�-51 Ue 7Che free s�anding sign on Traffic Way
was not involved w�th the reconsidera�tion request,.
Mr. Bzennax� stated �khnt due t4 a n�nbe� of uti.lity poles
lines, va.s.ion would be restr��ted if the sign did nat encroach

sign would replace, did encroach on th.�e p�abl�.c right-of-way.

During discu�ssion by Commissic+z� memb�rs it was brought out that
a proposed sign ordinance now being considered by �he City Council and
that the proposed zoning ordinance now ux�der s�udy would not permit
encroachment and probably would include pravisions for abatement of
any sucli sign created r�on-conforming. The Commission asked Mr. Brennan
if he would agree to signing an agreemen� �r�.th the City to be recorded,
indicating his willingness to move �he sign. in, conformance with either
of the above mentioned ordinances when adop�ted and Mr. Brennan indi-

LETTER FRaM PACIFIC FIRE RATING BOARD-�PLIBLIC BLDG. ELE. OF GEN. PLAN
Correspondence had been received from the PaGZfic Fire Rating
Bureau regarding their recommendation for the �ocation of a Fire Station
on Branch Street in connection with the Pub]..ic Bui.ldings Element of the
General Plan. Vice Chairman Schultz advised the Coznmission that Chair-
man Strother had requested �his item no�t b� discussed at this time and
be held over until he could be present, A mot�on was made by Commis-
sioner Porter, seconded by Commissioner McMillen, that the letter from
the Pacific Fire Rating Bureau be held i�n abeyance un#il the next meet-

REPORT FROM LIAISON TO CITY COUNCIL
Commissioner Smith reported..he had at�ended the City Council meet-
ing on April llth, 1967, a�d briefly reviewed �ha� �he Huasna Road
Plan Line recommendation from the Commission had received lenghty con:-
sideration by the Coun�il. ,
COMPLAINT REGARDING DRAIN DITCH AT DEAD END OF BRIGHTON AVE
Mr. Joseph 0. Rouette, 1236 Brighton Ave., advised the Commission
that he did not know if this would be par� of the Commission's respon-.
sibilities or not but as he did not know who to con�act, he wanted to
bring it to someone's attention that a drain di�ch'had been dug beyond
the dead end of Brighton Ave. that was a hazard and he felt the City
should investigate the condition, Director of Public Works Anderson
was present and advised �ha� he would check on it the following morning.,
REPORT ON JT� MEET. SLO BOARD OF SUPER. AND PLANN.COMM.-Reg.Plan.Dist
Director Gallop reported on a joint Snn Luis Obispo County meeting
of Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors held on April llth,
1967, in the Supervisors chambers conce�ning a proposal to establish a
Regional Planning District. Information obtained indicated that no
action was taken at the meeting but thnt Mr. Rogoway, County Pla nning
Director had been requested to present a written report on the proposal
to the members of the two bod�es within the next 30 to 60 days and that
Mr. Rogoway indicated a copy of the proposal would be forwarded to this
Planning Commission.
Administra�or Butch informed the Gommisszon of later information
which indicated the intent of organizing a Five County Regional Plan-
ning Body in an effort to meet the requirements of the Department of
Housing nnd Urban Development insofar as Federal Grants for sewers,
water, etc., are concerned. Additional informa�ion shauld be forth-
coming from either Mr. Born or Mr. Rogoway°s office.
