Public Hearings Dear Brian Pedrotti, Honorable Mayor, and Council Members~ I understand your position and the direction you are considering. Please consider that Homestays are not the same as Detached Vacation rentals. RECENED SEP 2 6 2022 CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE Guests staying in someone's home with them have chosen a closer relationship with their hosts than even a hotel can offer. These accommodations are for guests who want to feel the soul our community in a more intimate way and really get to know not just a place but also the people. Homestay hosts are true ambassadors for the City of Arroyo Grande. Because a Homestay is so personal, it is imperative that hosts have short-term flexibility. The rights provided to a long-term renter makes it difficult to correct challenges if living conditions become uncomfortable. In addition to insurance provided by host companies, this is what makes short-term stays the best result for Homestays. It makes sense to separate completely the rules and permits for attached units from detached units. It also makes sense to allow amnesty for those who have put in the time, money, and effort to create these beautiful spaces. A lot of people had to create a new source of income during troubled times. Thank you for considering my request. ~ Dove Daniel ~ Arroyo Grande, California
