A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE INTERPRETING THAT
SERVICE STATION FUEL PUMPING PARKING SPACES
ARE NOT COUNTED AS REQUIRED PARKING SPACES
WHEREAS, the Development Code was adopted by the City Council on May 14,

WHEREAS, Section 9-01.110 (G) (3) of the Development Code provides the Planning
Commission with the authority to clarify ambiguities in Title 9 of the Municipal Code;
and
WHEREAS, Development Code Section 9-12.060 (3} (f) indicates that service stations
shall be parked at a ratio of "three (3) parking spaces per working bay, ptus one (1)
parking space per employee on the largest shift"; and� , � �

WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has received' �a =�equest for an inf�erp'refiation to
determine whether service station fuel pumping parking spaces should be counted as
required parking spaces; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission finds, after due study, deliberation, the following
circumstances exist:
1. Section 9-12.060 of the Arroyo Grande Development Code sets forth the required
parking ratios for service stations.
2. The fuel pumping spaces are part of the operational use of service stations and are not
intended to be counted as required parking spaces for services stations.
3. Previously approved service stations have not used fuel pumping parking spaces
towards their required parking;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission of the City of
Arroyo Grande hereby makes the interpretation that service station fuel pumping
parking spaces shall not be counted as required parking spaces.
On a motion by Commissioner Greene, seconded by Commissioner O'Donnell, and by
the following roll call vote, to wit:
