PC R 97-1629RESOLUTION NO. 97-1629 A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE INTERPRETING THAT EXPOSED LIGHT BULB SIGNS ARE PROHIBITED WHEREAS, the Development Code was adopted by the City Council on Ma�y 14, 1991, and became effective on June 13, 1991; and WHEREAS, Section 9-01.110 (G) (3) of the Development Code provides the Planning Commission with the authority to clarify ambiguities in Title 9 of the Municipal Code; and WHEREAS, Development Code Chapter 9-13 (Sign Ordinance) does not make any reference to exposed light bulbs signs; and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has received a request for an interpretation to determine whether exposed .light bulb signs are permitted or prohibiteci; and WHEREAS, exposed light bulb signs are considered "reader boards"; and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission finds, after due study, deliberation, the following circumstances exist: 1. The Arroyo Grande Development Code does not address whether exposed light bulb signs are permitted or prohibited. 2. The purpose and intent of an exposed light bulb sign is similar to a reader board. - 3. Section 9-13.060(13) of the Arroyo Grande Development Code prohibiting "reader boards" also applies to exposed light bulb signs. 4. The intent of the Development Code is to prohibit exposed light bulb signs. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission of the City of Arroyo Grande hereby makes the interpretation that exposed light bulb signs are prohibited. On a motion by Commissioner O'Donnell, seconded by Commissioner Haney, and by the following roll cal� vote, to wit: AYES: Commissioners 0'Donnell, Haney Greene and Lubin NOES: None � ABSENT: Commissioner Rondeau The foregoing Resolution was adopted this 15th day of July, 1997.
