RESOLUTION NO. 88-1216
A RF50LDTION OF THE PLANNING OOMMISSION OF THE CI'I'Y
OF ARROYO GR.ANDE DENYING USE PERMIT CASE NO. 88-447,
AP'PLIED FOR BY UNOCAL OORP., 525 TRAFFIC WAY,
FOR A PLANNED SIGN PROGRAIV[.
WHEREAS, the Planning C,omrrussion of the City of Ai�royo Grande has considered an
application by Unocal Corp. for a Planned Sign Pro�'FUn at 525 'I�af�c Way in the C-3.
Highway Service District; and
�yH�E�, the planning C',orrYrussion has found that this project is inconsistent with
the General Plan and the environmental da:uments associated therewith; and
WHEgEAS, the project has been declared categorically exempt under the provisions
of Section 15311 of the California Environmental Qualtiy Act (CEQA); and
W�IEgg,AS, the planning Carrmission finds, after due study, deliberation and public
hearing, the following circurr��tances exist:
1. The proposed �e is not consistent with the General Plan.
2. The proposed tse will have an adverse effect on the use of surrounding property
because appropri�te conditions have not been incorporated into the resolution of
approval.
3. The proposed signs are not consistent with the intent and purpose of Section 9-
4.2407 of the Zoning Ordinance as it relates to Planned Sign Prograrr�s.
NOW, THEREFOR.E, BE IT RFSOLVED that the Planning Carurrission of the City of
Arroyo Grande hereby denies said Use Permit.
On motion by Camussioner Gerrish, seconded by Corrrrnssioner Olsen, and by the following roll
call vote, to wit:
