patterns and summarized the feedback from stakeholders.
Assistant City Manager/Public Works Director Bill Robeson and Interim City Engineer Steve
Kahn answered questions from the Committee as the project managers. Director Robeson
answered questions about the age of the existing tiles to be replaced, future maintenance
considerations, and timing of the project.
Chair Martin opened public comment. Planning Manager Perez read the email from the
supplemental memo into the record. No other public comment was received.
The Committee was supportive of the use of stamped concrete for heavily trafficked areas such
as the crosswalks and sidewalk bands. The Committee prefers the use of pavers for the tree
wells to improve drainage and minimize maintenance in the event that street trees need to be
replaced in the future. The Committee stated a preference for the Brick Red 160 color to be
consistent with the character of the Village, the basket weave pattern, and stressed the
importance of matching the colors of the bands, crosswalks, and tree wells.
Moved by C.J. Horstman
Seconded by Kristin Juette
The Committee recommends to City Council that the project use pavers for the tree wells and
stamped concrete for the sidewalk bands and crosswalks. All of the flatwork should be installed
in a basket weave pattern and use Brick Red 160 color.
