A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE APPROVING PLANNED SIGN
PROGRAM AMENDMENT CASE NO. 00-004, APPLIED
FOR BY GRAND AVENUE SELF STORAGE, LOCATED AT
1166 GRAND AVENUE
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Arroyo Grande has considered an
application by Grand Avenue Self Storage for Planned Sign Program Amendment
Case no. 00-004, located at 1164 and 1166 Grand Avenue in the General
Commercial District; and
WHEREAS, the applicant is proposing to place one ground sign at 1164 Grand
Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has found that t!iis Planned Sign Program and
architectural review is consistent with the General Plan and Environmental
Documents associated therewith; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has reviewed this project in compliance with
the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and has determined that the project
is categorically exempt per CEQA Guidelines Section 1531 1(a); and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission finds, after due study, deliberation and public
hearing, the following circumstances exist:
1. The proposed signs are consistent with the goals, objectives, policies
and programs of the Arroyo Grande General Plan. The goals of the
General Plan are to encourage economic vitality and business activity,
protect investments while preserving the environment and character of
the City. Said signs are important to the success of this business and
are not out of scale or character with other signs in this zone and
vicinity.
2. The proposed signs conform to applicable development standards and
provisions of the Development Code, and will not be detrimental to the
public health, safety or welfare.
3. The physical location or placement of the signs are compatible with the
surrounding neighborhood and do not pose a safety risk.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission of the City of
Arroyo Grande hereby approves Planned Sign Program Amendment Case No. 00-004,
with the above findings and subject to the conditions as set forth in Exhibit "A",
attached hereto and incorporated herein by this reference.

and by the following roll call vote, to wit:

CONDITIONS OF APPROVAL
PLANNED SIGN PROGRAM AMENDMENT CASE NO. 00-004
1164 and 1166 Grand Avenue

GENERAL CONDITIONS
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT
This approval authorizes the placement of one twenty-four (24) square foot ground
sign at 1 164 Grand Avenue as illustrated in Exhibit "B".
1. The applicant shall ascertain and comply with all Federal, State, County and
City requirements as are applicable to this project.
2. The applicant shall comply with all conditions of approval for Planned Sign
Program Case No. 00-004.
3. Development shall occur in substantial conformance with the plans presented
to the Planning Commission at the meeting of September 19, 2000 and
marked Exhibit "B".
4. The applicant shall agree to defend at his/her sole expense any action brought
against the City, its present or former agents, officers, or employees because
of the issuance of said approval, or in anyway relating to the implementation
thereof, or in the alternative, to relinquish such approval. The applicant shall
reimburse the City, its agents, officers, or employees, for any court costs and
attorney's fee's which the City, its agents, officers or employees may be
required by a court to pay as a result of such action. The City may, at its sole
discretion, participate at its own expense in the defense of any such action but
such participation shall not relieve applicant of his/her obligations under this
condition. .
DEVELOPMENT CODE
5. Development shall conform to the General Commercial zoning requirements
and the Sign Ordinance except as otherwise approved.
BUILDING AND FIRE DEPARTMENT CONDITION
6. The project shall comply with the most recent editions of the California State
Fire and Building Codes and the Uniform Building and Fire Codes as adopted by
the City of Arroyo Grande.
