Our organization urges you to allocate $7 million in gap funding to ensure the Bob Jones Trail can be successfully constructed after decades of effort by our community and the County of San Luis Obispo to bring this project to fruition. The trail will become an important alternative transportation route between San Luis Obispo and South County and will improve access and increase safety for wildfire response and land management along the route. It will also boost tourism in our region - inspiring people to extend their stays andvisitbusinesses in connected communities on their bikes or on foot. Our organization has invested heavily in the future of the trail, including constructing and managing the Octagon Barn Center trailhead (with great help from SLOCOG and the County), purchasing land along the plann~d route, recently dedicating right of way for the trail on those lands, and caring for the farmland and wildlife habitat of San Luis Obispo Creek. And we are just one partner that has poured funding and time into making this trail possible for our community. The time has come to make this vision of connected multi-modal trails a reality. The existing Bob Jones trail is a beloved community asset, and so many residents are excited to one day walk or bike safely between San Luis Obispo and our seaside communities. Please approve the reallocation of funding under Item F-2 and help secure our region's vitality. Thank you! Sincerely, Kaila Dettman Executive Director Page 8 of 9 Hearings: 33 Hearing to consider a request by the County of San Luis Obispo (LRP2024-00003) to amend the County Inland and Coastal Zone Land Use Ordinances and the Local Coastal Plan to update the Flood Hazard Area Standards and associated definitions per a standard review by the Federal Emergency Management Agency {FEMA) following FEMA-initiated updates to the County's flood hazard maps.
