Subject: RE: City Council Meeting Augist 13, 2024. Guiding Principle #6 Environmental Sustainability
Dear Mayor and City Council,
Re: August 13, 2024 Study Session for Guiding Principle #6 Environmental
Sustainability.
During several General Plan Update community sessions and meetings requests were
made to include PRIME AGRICULTURAL SOILS as part of Arroyo Grande Guiding
Principle #6- Environmental Sustainability. Please consider including this at the August
13, 2024 Study Session, since Prime Agricultural Soils of the Cienega Valley are a
valuable "limited environmental resource". We all need food and once paved over prime
soils are gone.
Please add the following CAPITALIZED WORDS words to Guiding Principle #6
Environmental Sustainability:
"Encourage Sustainability Practices in all community sectors including preserving PRIME
AGRICULTURE SOILS, energy efficiency, waste reduction, and renewable energy use.
Balance resource conservation with economic growth to ensure future community
needs."
Please include this email with the staff report. Thank you for your attention to this
important matter.
