CC 2024-09-24_8 Supplemental 1 MEMORANDUM TO: City Council FROM: Jessica Matson, Director of Legislative & Information Services/City Clerk SUBJECT: Supplemental Information Agenda Item 8. – September 24, 2024 City Council Meeting Community Comments and Suggestions DATE: September 24, 2024 Attached is public comment received prior to 2 p.m. cc: City Manager Assistant City Manager/Public Works Director City Attorney City Clerk City Website and Public Review Binder Enc From:Karen Miller To:public comment Subject:KEEP 3 MIN. PER PERSON PUBLIC COMMENT Date:Sunday, September 22, 2024 6:16:16 PM Dear AG City Council, As a citizen living in Arroyo Grande for over 50 years, I have a concern, along with many others, over the proposed limit of public comment changing from 3 minutes down to 1 minute per person. One minute is not enough time to give your name, express a concern, and give reasons for it. It is a freedom for citizens of AG to express their concerns to council members who they elected to represent them. The average time in public comments was about 7 minutes for each meeting. The lengthy meeting dealt with a highly controversial issue of flying special interest flags which should have been avoided by the council limiting only the United States, California, and Arroyo Grande flags to be flown. Please vote for our AG citizens to have their voices heard by keeping the 3 minutes per person for public comments time at the beginning of each AG council meeting, Blessings, Karen Miller From: To:public comment Subject:3 min Public Speaker rule Date:Tuesday, September 24, 2024 12:14:16 PM To Whom It May Concern: Please keep the 3 minute rule for pubic speakers. I hope you will leave the speaking time as is and NOT change it to 1 minute. Who can express any issue properly in just 1 minute? Please make a common sense decision, and leave our comment time to 3 minutes. Best Regards, Jennifer Nogle Thompson Interior Motives www.imotives.us
