RESOLUTION NO. 523
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE CALLING
A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD THE 22nd DAY OF MAY, 1962, PERTAINING
TO THE ANNEXATION OF "FAIR OAKS-ARROYO GRANDE ANNEXATION" TO THE CITY
OF ARROYO GRANDE.
WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 514 , the City Council of the City of
Arroyo Grande declared its intention to calT a special election to be held
in certain inhabited territory contiguous to the said City of Arroyo Grande
proposed to be annexed to the City and aTso in the City of Arroyo Grande
itself, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified electors residing
in said territory and also the quaTified eTectors residing in the City of
Arroyo Grande the question of whether or not the said territory shall be
annexed to the City of Arroyo Grande, and the property in said territory
subjected to taxation after annexation equaTly with property within the
City of Arroyo Grande; and
WHEREAS, a copy of said Resolution was pubTished and posted as re-

quired by law; and
WHEREAS, at a time not later than the hour set by said Resolution for
hearing objections to the proposed election protests were not made by the
owners or by pubTic and private owners equal to one-half of the value of
the territory proposed to be annexed; and
WHEREAS, all proceedings have been had in accordance with said Resolu-
tion and the Annexation Act of 1913, reference thereto hereby being made
for further particulars.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Arroyo
Grande as folTows:
1. A speciaT election is hereby called to be held on the 22nd day of
May, 1962, in the territory hereinafter described and proposed to be annexed
to the City of Arroyo Grande, and also in the City of Arroyo Grande itself,
for the purpose of submitting to the qualified electors residing in said
territory and to the qualified electors residing within the City of Arroyo
Grande itself the question whether or not such territory shall be annexed
to, incorporated in, and made a part of said City of Arroyo Grande, and
whether or not the property in said territory shall, after such annexation,
be subject to taxation, equally with the property within the City of
Arroyo Grande.
Said territory is described as follows:
2. The polls at said election shall be opened at 7 o'clock A.M.
of the day herein fixed for the hoTding of said election and shall be kept
open untiT 7 o'clock P.M. of the same day, when the polls shall be closed.
3. Upon the ballots to be used at said election there shaT'l be printed
the words:
SHALL "FAIR OAKS-ARROYO GRANDE ANNEXATION" BE ANNEXED
TO THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE, AND THE PROpERTY IN SUCH
TERRITORY BE, AFTER SUCH-ANNEXATION, SUBJECT TO TAXATION
EQUALLY WITH THE PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE?
Opposite these words there shal r be printed the words "YES" and "NO,"
and to the right of each of the Tast two words there shalT be a voting
square. If an elector shall stamp a cross (,+) in, the voting square after
the printed word "YES" the vote of such eTector shall be counted in favor
of the annexation of said territory to the City of Arroyo Grande; and if
an elector shall stamp a cross (+} in the voting square after the printed
word "NO" the vote of such eTector shall be counted against such annexation.
In all particulars not herein recited said election shall be held in
conformity, as near as may be, with the laws of the State of CaTifornla
concerning general elections and with said Annexation Act of 19T3.
4. (a) For the purpose of said eTection there hereby are established
voting precincts as follows:
1 Voting Precinct in the territory broposed to be
Annexed to said City and hereinaove described.
.2 Voting Precincts in the City of Arroyo Grande
itself.
The folTowing are the polling places for the various election precincts
hereinabove estabTlshed, and the following named persons hereby are named
officers of election, and shalT constitute the boards of election for the
respective election precincts as hereinafter set forth:
VOTING PRECINCT NO. 1 Located in the Territory proposed to be annexed.
It ShalT consist to the San Luis Obispo County
General Election Precinct known and designated
as FAIR OAKS VOTING PRECINCT (so much of said
Precinct as is included within the territory
hereinabove described which it is proposed to be
annexed.)

Arroyo Grande, California.

Polling Place: St. Barnabas Church, 100 Barnett Street, Arroyo
Grande, California.

(b) For their services in connection with said election, said election
officials shall receive $15.00 each, and the person in possession of the
respective polling places named hereinabove shall receive for the use of
their respective premises in connection with said election the sum of
$15.00.
5. The City Clerk shall publish a notice of said special election as
required by the Annexation Act of 1913, at least once a week for the four
(4) weeks prior to the date of the election of the 22nd day of May, 1962,
in the Arroyo Grande Herald Recorder, a newspaper of general circulation
printed and published outside of the City of Arroyo Grande, but in the
County of San Luis Obispo, California.
6. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution,
and cause the same to be published once in the Arroyo Grande Herald Recorder,
and she shall also cause it to be posted in three (3) public places in said
City, to-wit:
1. City Hall, 214 East Branch Street, Arroyo Grande
2. Fire House, 215 East Branch Street, Arroyo Grande
3. Postoffice, 132 East Branch Street, Arroyo Grande
