ORDINANCE NO. 210
-
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 193 OF THE CITY OF
ARROYO GRANDE BY CHANGING THE MAKE-UP OF
MEMBERSHIP OF THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION
AND REGULATING ATTENDANCE THEREOF.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Sect ion 1. Ordinance No. 193 of the City of Arroyo Grande, entitled "An
Ordinance Amending Ordinance No, 167 of the City of Arroyo Grande" passed and
adopted on the 4th day of June, 1964, is herewith amended sO that Section 2 and
Section 3 thereof shall read as follows, to-wit:
Sect ion 2. The Planning Commission is hereby re-created and re-established
which said Commission shall succeed unbrokenly to the Commission previously ex-
isting under the provisions of this Section heretofore existing, except as modi-
fied herein, and which commission shall consist of seven (7) members as follows:
Seven members who shall be qualified electors of the City of Arroyo Grande,
but who shall not otherwise be officials of the City of Arroyo Grande, such members
shall be appointed by vote of the City Council after nomination by the mayor. One
member of the City Council, appointed by the mayor, shall serve ex officio on the
commission without a vote thereon.
(a) Terms of Office and Va~3nc!es.
Members of the Commission shall serve for a period of four years,
beginning on July I, except that the term of the member of the
City Council shall terminate upon the vacation of his membership
on the City Council. The terms of four members shall expire on
June 30, 1966. The terms of the three other members shall expire
on June }O, 1968. Vacancies in said Commission occurring other-
wise than by expiration of term shall be filled in the manner
herein set forth for appointment; all members shall serve at the
pleasure of the City Council.
(b) Appointment for the Commission and the filling of vacancies
shall be made by vote of the City Council after nomination by the
mayor. Vacancies shall be filled for the unexpired term only.
Secti on 3. As provided by Secti6n 65200 of Article 3, Chapter}, Title 7
of the Government Code th~ City Council hereby delegates to the said Plilnning Com-

miss:lon membership, who's, term of office shall be establ ished by regularly adopted
Rules and Re0uJattons of the Commission, and further delegates to the Commission

authority to appoint a Planning Commission Secretary who may be a member of the Com-
mission or an employee of said City.
Section 4. Absence from three (3) consecutive regular meetings, or 25 % of
the regular meetings during anyone year period, without formal consent of the City
Council shall be deemed to constitute the retirement of such member and the position
declared vacant.
Section S. Ordinance No. 207, passed and adopted September 29th, 1965 is
hereby repealed.
Section 6. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect
thirty days after its final passage, and before the expiration of fifteen days after
its passage, it shall be published once in the Arroyo Grande Herald-Recorder, a
newspaper of general circulation in the City of Arroyo Grande.
On motion by Councilman Burt , seconded by Councilman McNeil
and on the following roll call vote, to-wit:
AYES: Councilwoman Thompson, Councilmen Levine, McNeil, Burt and
Mayor Wood
