SUBJECT: CONSIDERATION OF A FIRST AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT
FOR CONSULTANT SERVICES WITH AECOM FOR 'THE SEWER LIFT
STATION NO. 3 UPGRADE PROJECT, PW 2010-10

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended the City Council:
1. Approve a First Amendment to the Agreement for Consultant Services with
AECOM for the Sewer Lift Station No. 3 Rehabilitation Project; and
2. Authorize the Mayor to execute the amendment.
IMPACT ON FINANCIAL AND PERSONNEL RESOURCES:
The First Amendment solely extends the time of the contract. The price and scope of
work of the original agreement are unaffected.
BACKGROUND:
On August 10, 2010, Council approved a consultant services agreement with AECOM
to provide design and constr~~ction support services for the Sewer Lift Station No. 3
Upgrade Project in the amount of $48,989. On September 13, 201 1, Council approved
a construction contract to Hanly General Engineering Corporation in the amount of
$262,500.
ANALYSIS OF ISSUES:
The agreement for AECOM expired on September 7, 201 1. The project is currently
under construction and is tentatively scheduled for completion by the end of May, 2012.
AECOM continues to provide construction support services and is contracted to
incorporate all project changes into record drawings upon completion of the project.
The proposed First Amendment extends the contract to September 30, 2012.

ALTERNATIVES:
The following alternatives are provided for the Council's consideration:
1. Approve a First Amendment to the Consultant Services Agreement with AECOM;
2. 'DO not approve the First Amendment; or
3. Provide direction to staff.
ADVANTAGES:
Approval of the First Amendment will extend the contract time of the original agreement
and will enable the consultant to perform their original scope of work. The contract price
is unaffected.
DISADVANTAGES:
No disadvantages have been identified.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW:
The project is categorically exempt from CEQA pursuant to Section 15301 (b).
PUBLIC NO'rIFICA'rION AND COMMENTS:
The agenda was posted on Thursday, March 8, 2012. The agenda and staff report was
posted on the City's website on Friday, March 9, 2012. No public comments were
received as of the time of preparation of this report.

ATTACHMENT 1
CONSULTANT SERVICES AGREEMENT
AMENDMENT NO. 1
This First Amendment ("First Amendment") to Consultant Services Agreement ("CSA)
by and between the ClTY OF ARROYO GRANDE and AECOM is made and entered
into this day of March 2012.
WHEREAS, the parties entered into a CSA dated September 7, 2010 for the design and
construction services for the Sewer Lift Station No. 3 Rehabilitation Project, PW 2010-
10; and
WHEREAS, the parties desire to further modify the CSA as set forth herein.
NOW THEREFORE, for valuable consideration the receipt and sufficiency of which is
acknowledged, the parties agree as follows:
1. Section 1 ("TERM") of the Agreement, shall be modified in its entirety to read as
follows:
This Agreement shall be extended and remain and continue in effect until
Septerr~ber 30, 2012, urlless sooner terminated pursuant to the provisions of this
Agreement.
2. Except as modified herein, all other terms and conditions set forth in the CSA, as
amended, shall remain unchanged.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, ClTY and CONSULTANT have executed this Second
Amendment the day and year first above written.
