R 3164 . -' . CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE RESOLUTION NO. 3164 LUCIA MAR UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT RESOLUTION NO. A9697-03 A JOINT RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE AND THE LUCIA MAR UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT ESTABLISHING A "DRUG FREE ZONE" r WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF ARROYO GRANDE WHEREAS, creating a safe, healthy environment in the area surrounding schools and other locations designated for use by children is a top priority of the City of Arroyo Grande and the Lucia Mar Unified School District; and . WHEREAS, it is necessary to establish policies and procedures for the enforcement of existing laws pertaining to activities surrounding schools and other areas designated for use by children; and WHEREAS, creating a "Drug Free Zone" is a model program known to be effective; and WHEREAS, the City and the schools and the community can work together to support a "Drug Free Zone" in the City of Arroyo Grande. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE AND THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF THE LUCIA MAR UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. - That a "Drug Free Zone" be established within the City of.Arroyo Grande. Section 2. - The "Drug Free Zone" shall encompass all elementary and secondary schools within the City of Arroyo Grande, both public and private. Section 3. - The "Drug Free Zone" shall encompass those locations intended for use by .children such as City parks and recreation areas. Section 4. - The boundaries for the "Drug Free Zone" be established as depicted on the attached map. Section 5. - The City Clerk of the City of Arroyo Grande and the Clerk of the Board for r the Lucia Mar Unified School District shall each certify to the adoption of this resolution by their respective Council/Board and shall cause a certified resolution be filed in their respective office. t -- ~-"'----~-- .
