RESOLUTION NO. 3090
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ARROYO GRANDE REQUESTING THE CONTINUED ASSISTANCE
OF THE CALIFORNIA MEN'S COLONY COMMUNITY SERVICE CREWS
WHEREAS, the city of Arroyo Grande is in need of assistance
from the California Men's colony (CMC) Community Service crews to
aid city workers in performing essential jobs throughout the year
and to protect public and private property from severe flooding; I
and
--
WHEREAS, the CMC Community Service crews are needed to help
clear the City creeks of silt, brush, and debris; perform weed
abatement along the city's rights-of-way; perform sand bagging
during floods; remove large trees damaged by winds and rain; make
improvements in drainage inlets and channels; drinking
reservoirs; improve drainage basins, and water well sites, and
perform other special projects that require heavy manual labor;
and
WHEREAS, the city does not have the manpower or financial
capability to accomplish this work without the help of the CMC
Community Service crews; and
WHEREAS, the State is presently considering the cutback of
these crews.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the
city of Arroyo Grande hereby requests the state of California to
provide funding for the Community Service Crews program, and to
continue to make these crews available to the city.
On motion of Council Member Souza , seconded by
Council Member Lady , and on the following roll call i
