RESOLUTION NO. 3068 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE ADOPTING A PROCLAMATION CONFIRMING THE EXISTENCE OF A LOCAL STATE OF EMERGENCY WHEREAS, Section 4-1.06 of the Arroyo Grande Municipal Code empowers the Director of Emergency Services of the city of Arroyo Grande to proclaim the existence of a local emergency when the city is affected or likely to be affected by a public calamity ~ - -- and the Disaster Council is not in session; and WHEREAS, the Director of Emergency Services finds that on March 11, 1995, conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property arose as a result of unusually heavy rains, resulting in heavy runoff which threatened property within the City of Arroyo Grande, and these conditions necessitated the proclamation of the existence of a local emergency within the city of Arroyo Grande; and WHEREAS, the City of Arroyo Grande acknowledges conditions existing within the County of San Luis Obispo and supports its proclamation of a local emergency; and these conditions warrant and necessitate that the city of Arroyo Grande proclaim the existence of a local emergency, and the Disaster Council is not in session; and WHEREAS, on March 11, 1995, the Director of Emergency Services of the city of Arroyo Grande issued a proclamation declaring the existence of a local emergency, and it is shown as the attached Exhibit "A." NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the city Council of the city of Arroyo Grande adopts the proclamation issued by the Director of Emergency Services of the city and confirms the -- existence of a local state of emergency within the city beginning March 11, 1995, and continuing to the present date. On motion of Council Member Souza, seconded by Council Member Fuller, and on the following roll call vote, to wit: AYES: Council Members Souza, Fuller, Lady, Brandy and Dougall NOES: None ABSENT: None the foregoing Resolution was adopted this of March, 1995. . RESOLUTION NO. 3068 EXHIBIT "A" PROCLAMATION OF EXISTENCE OF A LOCAL EMERGENCY BY THE DmECTOR OF EMERGENCY SERVICES OF TI-IE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE WHEREAS, Section 4-1.06 of the Arroyo Grande Municipal Code empowers the Director of Emergency Services of the City of Arroyo Grande to proc1aim the existence of a local emergency when the City is affected or likely to be affected by a public calamity and the ,- Disaster Council is not in session; and WHEREAS, the Director of Emergency Services finds that on March 11, 1995 conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property arose as a result of unusually heavy rains, resulting in heavy runoff which threatened property within the City of Arroyo Grande, and these conditions necessitated the proc1amation of the existence of a local emergency within the City of Arroyo Grande; and WHEREAS, the City of Arroyo Grande acknowledges conditions existing within the County of San Luis Obispo and supports their proclamation of a local emergency; and these conditions warrant and necessitate that the City of Arroyo Grande proclaim the existence of a local emergency, and the Disaster Council is not in session; NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY PROCLAIMED AND ORDERED by the Director of Emergency Services of the City of Arroyo Grande, that a local emergency exists throughout the City of Arroyo Grande, and shall be deemed to continue to exist until its termination is proclaimed by the Disaster Council; and IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that a copy of this proc1amation be forwarded to the Governor of California with a request that he proclaim the existence of a State of Emergency throughout San Luis Obispo County and the City of Arroyo Grande, and that he make the appropriate resources available for emergency response; and IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that a copy of this proclamation be forwarded to the State Director of the Office of Emergency Services.
