RESOLUTION NO. 3048
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TIlE CITY OF AHROYO
GRANDE ADOPTING TI-IE HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS 'WASTE ELEMENT
WHEREAS, the City of Arroyo Grande is required under the Integrated Waste Management
Act of 1989 (Public Resources Code Section 4??oo et. seq.) to prepare and adopt a comprehensive
Household Hazardous Waste Element to meet State imposed waste diversion mandates; and
WHEREAS, the Arroyo Grande City Council is committed to providing City residents with
methods for reducing the volumes of household hazardous wastes, and for the safe collection,
recycling and disposal of household hazardous wastes; and
WHEREAS, the Arroyo Grande City Council is further committed to providing the public ---
with education and information about alternatives to hazardous products an~ about reusing,
recycling and safe disposal of household hazardous wastes; and
WHEREAS, the Arroyo Grande City Council intends to work with other jurisdictions to
provide cost effective and productive regional programs for the safe collection, recycling and
disposal of household hazardous wastes; and
WHEREAS, the Arroyo Grande City Council conducted public hearings to discuss the
Household Hazardous Waste Element on February 8, 1994, February 22, 1994, March 15, 1994,
and August 23, 1994.
NOW, TlIEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Arroyo
Grande does hereby adopt the June t994 Household Hazardous Waste Element as prepared by the
Solid Waste Task Force and approved by the San Luis Obispo Council of Governments, a copy of
which is attached hereto as Exhibit" A" and incorporated herein.
On Motion of Council Member Lady , seconded by Council Member SOU7.a ,and
by the following roll call vote, to wit:
AYES:Council Members Lady, Souza, Burke and Mayor Gallagher
NOES:None
ABSENT:Council Member Brandy
the foregoing Resolution was adopted the 23rd day of August, 1994.
